don't worry about what driver agent says, if it ain't broke, don't fix it
probably the usb issue is you need to track down and install the usb2 drivers but if all you plug into usb is keyb and mouse,, not really essential at all..

I use my USB ports for things like Hard-drives aswell, so would it be worth be getting hold of the USB2 Drivers??
I do find that when I unplug (and sometimes plug in) external hard-drives it stops my wireless dongle working properly meaning i cant get internet, so I have to take it out and pout it back in......could this be a driver problem then?

seems to be an awful lot wrong here, usb2 drivers came with winxp and vista so you shouldn't need to install any if using one of these.
consider doing a backup of all your data as things may start to pop real soon, did you check those fans were clear and spinning?
Suspect all these probs are linked but can't spot anything definitive, usually video drivers don't really cause a lot of problems in windows even if they are older ones.
have you also run through the malware sticky?, might be a start but do those backups sooner rather than later !!

  • AVG -get rid of it-do a google search, apparently a recent avg update has given a false positive to a vital part of windows boot up-saying its a trojan when its not which means it wont boot up
    heres how to fix it
    Chelski wherever you may be
    it wont be wembley

oops forgot to check the fans.
malware sticky...what is it? Obviously havent run it, haha.
As for backups..everything of importance is on ext. harddrive or laptop so thats ok (i hope :p)
As for AVG i have been having a few problems with it, and on the laptop, not letting me update it claiming the necessary files are missing, but now seems ok....which other antivirus would you recommend?

  • I would suggest to do a complete re installation of Windows. Make sure you have all the back ups you need including bookmarks from your browser.

    Don't worry about driver agent.

Go directly to manufacturers site for driver updates.

For antivirus, try Kaspersky - you have one month to try with no limitations before you decide if you want to buy it or uninstall it.

Make sure you format your drive before you re install windows.

Hey appears I have the problem again, i have updated my graphics driver and checked the fans inside are all spinning correctly and not blocked. Yet it crashed on me aagain this morning.
I am checking through the malware and am certain I have already done most of the stuff on there, just need to do spybot and ad-aware...could this solve my problems??
    please help....
