I was also thinking I could include a recipe binder - can any of you suggest your favourite recipes? She's vegetarian but don't let that put you off as I can always make changes to them.

Go raibh maith agaibh! - did I get that right?!

  • My DH is from Belfast and I always find huge problems getting Irish foods, esp Nutty Krust Plain Bread, Taytos, Pink Lemonade, Club Orange, Soda Bread (which tastes completely different to the Rankin ones sold in Tesco), sea weed (dulis ??) , pasties it is a big void in the market, Ihave even spoken to his Aunties etc that are still living in Belfast and joked we should set up an online business providing people on the mainland with all the lovely irish foods.

Oh my God, that seaweed stuff - my mum used to eat that all the time! If anyone knows where I can get that she'd be so happy!

Edit: just found an online supplier Daisymac - http://www.seaveg.co.uk/bbseaveg.html

If you live near an Irish Club it might be worth trying there. I know that a relative of mine used to frequent one and once a week a man came over from Ireland in a van selling things like Clonakilty Black Pudding, 'proper' floury potatoes, and various other goodies.
