  • You might be better off staying at a hotel that offers parking as a package, but I have used Purple Parking several times and the car is always exactly as we left it and the mileage doesn't change. Check with the owners as the savings are significant. Also, when we've taken our car keys on holiday we always worry about losing them so not having that stress makes for a more relaxing holiday.

We're flying out on the day we get there so dont need a hotel, and when we're abroad staying with family so dont need hotel when abroad too.

Can i just ask what car it is?

And are your family thinking that when you get back 'if' the car has been damaged PP will just say "Oh well, bad luck"

Most hotels that offer parking as a package provide the parking in the form of a voucher for Purple Parking! There is the odd exception, but not many.

Personally I'd never choose to leave my car keys when I park at an airport.

Based on an experience I had a few years back at Gatwick. I returned to find my car absolutely filthy and with 50 extra miles on the clock! When I queried it I was just brushed off with "we have to take cars to an offsite compound", and was given a voucher for a nearby jetwash! Personaly I think 50 miles is an excessive addition. This was with the "Summer Parking".

From that day on I'll only book a car park where I can park the car myself and keep the keys.

At Heathrow, I've used Parking Express for Terminals 1,2,3 & 4. And also the new Long Stay at T5. Both very good. The Parking Express transfer can be a bit of a drag when driving around Terms 1,2 & 3. Term 4 is direct, but a bit further away.
The T5 Long stay was exceelent, very close to the terminal.

You can get cheaper prices if you book in advance on the supersaver price. Only downside there is no cancel/no amend on taht deal.
  • As per previous posters our friends and I always use Purple Parking at Heathrow (using discount code) and have never had any problems, and our friends have a top of the range Range Rover.
The only drawback is that it takes quite a while for the minibus transfer because its in a busy traffic area, so this time I will be using the Meteor Meet and Greet service and seeing how we get on with that (discount code NOV08 for 22.5 discount).
  • Have just booked 9 days at Heathrow using the ITT code. If topcashback tracks then it should be £11.47 in total! :j

    Will wait to see.....:D

Just got back from hol and Purple parking was excellent.
It took 5-10 mins to get to the airport on the shuttle and today we managed to sneak straight onto a bus as we exited the terminal and took 5-10 mins again to get back. Car was ready and off we went!
Would def use again and with cashback came to £26 for 9 days parking.

Would recommend purple parking. have used them a few times and its a good service, car had no extra miles on the clock. I always book through the virgin Atlantic website frequent flyers link and top cash back.

(Join the virgin frequent flyers club and then log in to member benefits, click on the link and it takes you to the purple parking page I tried using the discount code but it was always £20 more expensive than this way! You don't have to have any miles or be flying with Virgin)

It's really easy to amend details and you can cancel up to 24 hours before free of charge. Just booked 18 days parking for £51 plus cash back! Cheapest way every time!

Also check out the thread/article about airport car parking, that's where i originally found the tip about virgin.
