Have a look at this website www.matobmobile.co.uk . I bought a 'Doro' mobile for my mother, but unfortunately she died a week after getting it so I took it over as it's so easy to use.

It was expensive £99 and is BIG but keys are not only large, they light up. At first I was self conscious about the size when using it, until I realised that some people thought it was something like an ipod and looked quite envious. Comes in black or white, black is probably less conspicuous, my white one does stand out.

Two things I should have pointed out - you can phone and receive texts (on this model) but you can't send texts. It also doesn't seem to have the quick access to voicemail that phones usually have.

Hello, thank you so much for your reply which is much appreciated, well I have been on this website and they offer the Binatone speakeasy at £59.99 which seems very very good, on paper anyway! You can send and receive texts, it has a torch in the end, notepad on the back, and three quick dial buttons, which will suit my husband very well. I rang them today and they can deliver immediately with a postage of I think it was £6.95.

However, on googling myself silly, found another website silverphone and theirs if £49.99 plus the same delivery, a tenner less, however, on delving, they have no stock and delivery ten days, so I said when do you take the money, with the order they said, (all done by e mail and very quick to reply)

So I am not doing that, but will wait until they say they have stock, have got a very small Nokia to be going on with, but hubby cannot use it.

I saw the model you have but yes it is too expensive for us. Apparently this phone is not tied in, so we can put our orange sim in it or any sim in it and they will provide a sim free if you want one.

If y ou have a minute have a look at it, it does seem quite a good little phone. Whilst Googling I see Maplin are awaiting stock at £49.99 so will look into that too.

Best regards and thank you again for your reply, oap:D

Thank you, just had a look but it is a phone for your home, it is a mobile to carry around that we want, it is difficult when searching as when you put in mobile it comes up with home phones, thanks though. regards oap
  • Does anyone have an easy to use mobile and home phone? Are they worth the money? My elderly father is really struggling to use his mobile and I really want a phone that can dial numbers by just pressing one button.

Hi, well I had found Silverphone, but no stock they are £49.99 six pound something delivery, the other one is £59.99 in stock, and similar delivery price.Silverphone wanted to take the money and deliver in ten days, but not doing that if no stock.
Anyway, spotted that Maplin are having some in, but they will not be in for two weeks, so waiting, to save the tenner!! Theirs is also £49.99

It seems just what we want, and love the bit that says it has a torch, you can key in three numbers, which will suit my hubby, ie just press no 1 and it rings home!! Also a notepad on the reverse, so really looking forward to getting one at some point. Can't wait, there must be a run on them if they are saying delivery in two weeks, sounds like they are coming into the country from somewhere.

    Best regards, oap:T

Hi everyone, got our new Binatone Big Button Mobile, it is FANTASTIC, I have never found a phone so easy to use, easy to send texts, easy to programme, and a torch in it, big buttons, loudspeaker if you need it, and the very best thing, you can actually read the screen in daylight, my other Nokia, too small etc, acts as a mirror for putting lipstick on, you can never see it in daylight, on a bus etc, unless you hide it in your coat!!!!

Got the Binatone from Maplin in the end, £49.99 before reduction in VAT, and no postage, it is just a brilliant phone and not too large and not too heavy.

I am sure it will sell out soon to all the older folk who cannot mess with tiny letters, and small screens, cheers oap
