Wow Pink - your username (surname bit IYSWIM) is (almost) in there as a surname! I thought they were all convicts! Then I put my specs on!:rotfl:
    Eh?

Not one of those surnames is in my family AFAIK...

Soappie - it's great. Those are very old fashioned "Lion-tamer" tunics for The Salvation Army Bandsmen. They were in Warrington (now Cheshire, but formerly Lancashire) which is where my father was born. Grandad worked for GWr and moved for a shilling a week (5p to you Flybabies) pay rise, from Bath, but we also found out recently that my grandmother's parents were from Southampton, not Bath as we thought! Did you see my post last week, or week before about DB's trip "oop North"? He visited a cousin while there on business. I'd spoken to her after an aunt died (not her mother) and she said she had a case of "stuff" that would probably end up in a skip when she went as she didn't know anyone who would want it. I told her to hang on and one of us would be there. In amongst that is a photo of my father aged approx 13 weeks! And a photo of my grandmother about 10 years old with the rst of her family at the time.

Ther will be more pictures added if anyone else cares to look. You never know - there may be a relative or two out there!

It occurs to me, Froddy, that she could have lied about her age to appear YOUNGER than she was (so Grandad didn't think he was marrying an old crock IYSWIM) and that is why birth cert was hidden/missing. I constantly lie about my DoB for much the same reason :rotfl: or to appear older as I said...I love a mystery, me.

That makes sense! I can see why her birth records could be difficult to find (lied about age, records destroyed in the war(s), etc.) but not why her death doesn't seem to be registered either! I am intrigued and determined to find something! My aunty gave me some info before she died, and also a photo of my grandma - I'd never seen one before. My dad is not so useful  - when my aunty gave me the photo, he said 'oh yeah, I suppose she'd be in my wedding photos too!!' And he's hopeless with dates for anything, so no hope of any new info from him :p

Pink - I'm v. close to Southampton so if there's anything you want looking up or photographing let me know - I'll be more than happy to oblige.

Blimey, it's like the Bronx here at the moment. Sirens going off every which way. But, as the washing up and S&Sing of the kitchen is done, I guess I'd better crawl into my bed and sleep.

    Night night all.

may sound weird but have you thought about swapping her names around if she had a middle one? Just my grandads death and marriage certficates said different things!! His death was registered as "thomas reginald ****** " but his marriage one said "reginald thomas ****** " was his name... but he was always known as tom.

  • Me too Tag...Very irritating.

I forgot to go back and view Valli's row, I started reading it earlier pre-ruck, (I'm stalking you Valls) :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks for the friend adding/requests.. Love Facebook me!

My poor DH, he's worked his little stinky socks off today. Idle harridan that I am, have spent most of the day faffing around on here and Facebook. He's just gone up the road to buy bread for DD3's packed lunch - cos when I got there, the freezer was bare! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
And in sensible female fashion, rather than ask him to get me chocolate, and then be irritated that he got the wrong thing.... I requested a flake and a bag of dorritos! Been too long since dinner!
He said "what's wrong with the chocolate you've got in the cupboard?"
Silly man, nothing of course... I just don't want that chocolate! S'not rocket science is it!

Clever girl! I knew someone who was really shocked when he got his birth cert out to arrange his wedding - he thought he was called Peter Charles - his birth cert said Charles Peter - and at least 2 of my female cousins (who live near Flower) use their middle names. S' a shock when you fiind out during the wedding (me that is...) I never knew she was called Jeanette:rotfl: (lives in Benfleet Flower)
