Pay & Go Original/Talkalot/Talkalotmore - High St Tariff:

UK to UK standard fixed line numbers. 0845, 0800 and 0870 numbers are charged are charged at 35p per min in the daytime, 10p per min in the evenings and 2p per min at weekends. Daytime is 07:30 to 19:30 Monday to Friday. Weekend is Midnight Friday to Midnight Sunday. Evening at all other times.

Talkalot with Calls and Messages - Online tariff:

Inclusive call minutes can be used to call some non-geographical and special services numbers with the following prefixes: 0800, 0808, 0844, 0845 and 0870. Once the inclusive minute allowance has been used up, calls to these numbers will be charged as calls to standard UK landlines at the prevailing tariff. Some exceptions may apply and calls to some numbers may be free of charge.

    Thanks...

Just wondering, if thats the case....my standard calls are 5p a min (after the first 3 mins in a day) so by using 1899 i could in theory pay standard call costs of 5p + 10p to 1899 per minute instead of 40p per minute to ring another network mobile?? Would that work?

Yes - by using 1899's '02' access number. On Saturday and Sunday it would be 5p + 3p.

Their is a cheaper solution for making x-net calls from o2 payg see my recent posting here

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=1283229#post1283229

If you havent got any x-net minutes left and you want to call Freephone Numbers from O2 you can use the little known dial through access number
    0200 222 0700 to call them.

I have tried 0200 222 0700 from a couple of different o2 phones and its working ok.It doesnt work from every network eg Virgin.

If you dont have any luck with that number try 020 222 0900 which seems to work from more networks including o2.

    Hi there,
Just come across this post, cant see how you would go about using these codes/numbers, can someone please explain in leyman terms?

Yes . Lets assume you want to dial a 0800 number, your on o2 payg you havent got any free minutes left,or you did not have any in first place. So you want to avoid paying 35p peak,or 10p evenings to ring it.(At the weekend dial the 0800 number direct as o2 only charge 5p a minute to call it)

You dial the 0200 number which is charged as a normal 01/02 number, 25p a minute first 3 minutes then 5p a minute thereafter. Then you dial the 0800 number and it puts you through. Its a dial through access number like 07744,and some 0844/0845/0870 ones you see advertised. So you save money on your call at peak rate, and also possibly evenings depending on duration of call, and if you have used up first 3 minutes.

It also works on other networks contract/payg eg Orange contract charge 10p a min to call freephone if you havent got bundle. But if you have inclusive minutes,so you call 0800 via 0200 number out of your inclusive minutes avoiding 10p a minute charges.

If you can get the alternative geographical number to the 0800 one it would of course be easier to dial it direct.
You can sometimes find these alternative numbers on the https://www.saynoto0870.com site.
    PF.
  • Thank you very much for your help.
'If it's not broken, keep fixing it until it is'.
  • If you have inclusive/bolt on O2 PAYG x-net minutes you can call 0800 numbers using SF 07744 97 4116, 4404. 4333 etc etc etc access numbers.
