this country has gone mad. why tip people for doing there job?
i don't get tipped for my job.
I got a chocolate bar the other day for helping a social worker with finance (I work in finance):D
I always tip the postie & I tip the hair dresser & manicurist extra at Xmas.
I NEVER tip my bin men.
We don't have wheelie bins, we leave our rubbish outside our drives/gates in bags.
BUT I have a wheelie for my own use, then come bin day I take it to the road & empty it & return it to my drive.
They moved it, every bl00dy week, they left a outside my drive, a house or so down, anywhere.
I actually thought it might be kids, then I discovered it was actually the bin men, god only knows why, its not even the councils bin:rolleyes:
So we bought a bracket, a chain & a padlock & I have chained it to the side fence, stops them moving it;)
No I wouldn't blooming well tip the, I nearly lost my bin regularly because of them.0 -
I don't tip anyone if I can help it
A nice letter to the company would probably be more appreciated than a couple of quid.0 -
I leave my bin men a packet of biscuits every week as a thank you
I would only tip my Tesco delivery guy at Christmas though.
I got a chinese takeaway delivered a couple of months ago, it came to £17.50, I paid with a £20 note, and the delivery girl asked me if I wanted the change, I thought that was a bit cheeky so I said "Yes please". She would have got it if she had kept her mouth shut!A dog is for life not just for Christmas.
How about a rescue dog?0 -
Blimey, it would never occur to me to tip the tesco/sainsburys/ocado delivery driver. After all, having paid for delivery why would you? Where does it all end?
I tip the hairdresser and the girl who does my bikini line. I tip the window cleaner if he calls to clean around christmas time. Apart frm that, nobody.Ellie

I've never thought about it!
I tip the milkman and the postie at Xmas. We tipped the postie at our last house when we'd just moved there, and he really went out of his way to help us which was great as my husband gets a lot of parcels with his work and the PO was miles away, so he used to hide them in special places for us.
I love the idea of giving the bin men beer!Anna :beer:0 -
wow- reading back on this I am suprized that (a) people do actually tip them and (b) they accept!
I used to work for a well known retail chain, we were told we could/would lose our jobs if we as much as accepted a strawberry as a thanks! It would be a "diciplinary action"0 -
No, I don't. To be honest the majority of them dump the boxes on my doorstep and then stand there tapping their foot while I juggle a baby and unpack it all (which can take a while as I opt out of carrier bags for the sake of the environment etc).
There is however one driver in particular who is incredibly helpful and always offers to carry the boxes to my kitchen. I always thank him but have never tipped him although I had planned on calling the delivery line and praising him. I must remember to do that next time.MFIT No. 810 -
