OMG I had never actually thought about tipping them. I have always got nice ones too and they always bring it uspstairs for me to the kitchen.

They're not being "nice" though, they're doing their job. You're doing them a favour by ordering online rather than shopping yourself, you're keeping them employed.

The best thing you can do is write a letter of praise, a lot of companies give out vouchers or prizes to employees that do a good job and it would ultimately be more beneficial. They may also not be allowed to accept tips and could get in trouble for doing so (although they'd probably let it slide)

I tipped my delivery driver last year but before hand asked him if he was allowed to accept it (he was from tescos) - he said that they only allowed him to accept tips at Xmas time. I will tip again this year regardless of who I get as they must have a hard time at Xmas and also leave some cash out for the postie (I used to leave beer out for the bin men in my last house as they would take my rubbish even if I hadn't remember to get it out of my bin cupboard - but not the ones in my new house as they aren't that nice!).

My mate is a postie and he says he gets around an extra £300 at Xmas time!!!!!! (he said the posher houses are the tightest! LOL!)
  • dont u think we the general public give tesco enough profits as it is! there taking over the nation, forget about tippin em

yes Tesco earns billions of £££profits, but thats completely different to the employees who work there! I dont know any of us who are millionaires, we certainly dont work there through chioce lol
As far as tipping goes, Ive never even thought about it, and I know at my local tesco theyre not allowed to accept tips, or any other "donations" except at xmas time???

It never occured to me to give them a tip, or the person who brings our occasional chinese, or the postman (why on earth would I tip the postman?). I wouldn't know who to tip and who not, where would it end? What about if a sales assistant had been particularly helpful? Or when the dentist let you go without drilling any holes?

  • i overheard a sales assistant in mothercare talking to another assistant about how she had been really helpful in helping an old lady choose an outfit for her newborn great granddaughter, the old lady turned up half hour later with a box of ferraro rocher for the sales assistant. She was practically bouncing around the store, it had really cheered her up!
    is officially a GLEEK

You got to get through what you've got to go through to get what you want but you got to know what you want to get through what you got to go through.
