thanks for the help.
i think we may just have to forget about hiring a car!0 -
Do you have time to get a low credit rating card like capital one or vanquish and just use it if your asked?0
-
I have a bad credit rating unfortunately so wouldn't get one (have already tried that!).
I dont mind not having a car in Mexico or New York but a renting a car for 5 days in Miami is almost as cheap as the taxi fare from the airport and back alone!0 -
We are going to Florida in December and have done a lot of research on car hire without a credit card.
Alamo are the only company I have found where you can hire a car with a cash deposit. You must book and pay for it in advance and meet their criteria - look on their website. The only pre-pay credit card with the facility to be able to hire a car (I think) is Cashplus, but you need about 10 days to apply to receive the card and have the facility switched on so need to have run the account for a couple of months.0 -
thanks. that's really helpful.
i'll check out the Alamo site.
cheers for the responses, i'm not quite as worried now!0 -
why dont you speak with the travel agent that you booked with , there might be a way around this if you ask first0

It depends where you go as both are used. They are no where near as strict as the UK for chip and pin only.
I think though on the whole signature tends to be slightly more common.0 -
Thanks Sturll - Were off to LV staying at the Wynn - We are not hiring a car, so the hotel is the only place we will be swiping it (and not using it much i hope!)0
