Is Just Dial the best CPS right now?

I've just briefly scanned Martin's articles and some of the recent threads on the forum to find out about this Just Dial Service, but before I click the "submit now" button on the application form I want to double check that I'm doing the right thing!
I was with One-Tel on their 12mth offer which is coming to an end now so would be charged £3.99 a month for free E&W calls and Talk Talk are charging £4.99 a month for the same service, but I'm a little concerned about some of the posts I've read about people being overcharged by Just Dial
I would only use them for E&W landline calls as I also use 1899 and 18185, so theoretically I shouldn't be charged a penny!
Should I press the button or not LOL!

OTOH, I've had no problems so far with Primus Saver 2Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I started a similar thread recently and was advised to take out Primus Saver 2 because of the various problems mentioned here. This is a CPS product too, offering completely free weekend and evening calls the only difference being that calls only up to 1 1/2 hours are free whereas Just-dial's are free up to 2 hours.
I signed up with Primus. The CPS switch-over takes 2 weeks. In the meantime they provide an indirect access code so you benefit immediately from the free calls.
Note that their evening tarriff is 6pm to 8am unlike BT's, which ends at 6am.Dagobert0 -
On most of the switching sites TalkTalk Talk1 are currently offering free weekend calls with a £4 per month rebate for the first year. They are also offering line rental @ £9.99 (BT £11 as of 1st Jan).
Talk1 evening rate is 5p for up to 70mins so you would get the equivalent of 80 free evening calls (up to 70mins duration).
If you take the line rental and make less than 80 evening calls per month the £4 rebate would end up covering some of your line rental charge as well!
If you make an average of more than 80 evening calls per month you will be best going with just-dial.
Beware though - as Just-Dial is part of OneTel (which has just been bought by TalkTalk) you may end up being transferred to a talktalk tariff anyway. I think it is very unlikely that TalkTalk will offer a £4 rebate per month for a year to customers they have just paid £152m for.0 -
Thanks for all the above comments
I had read about the take-over and when I called One-tel to see if they would offer me any further deals I asked about this, and they said they have no immediate plans to amalgamate and each individual company would still be run separately, but then who knows what they might do in the future! So basically anyone currently with one of the companies wouldn't have a problem switching to another if they wished to do so.
Now, I've done a bit more digging about and found out that British Gas of all people are also offering a CPS telephone service with free E&W calls for their customers who have gas/electric with them!!!!
I'm wondering if anyone has tried this and if so, how do they find the service?
Oh, and btw, I pressed the "submit now" button on JDS site but their server failed to load the page and came up as an error, so I take that as a sign to stay away LOL!"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

I'll be sticking to BT for my line rental so I can use other CPS services on top of it"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

LOL! the plot thickens!
I wonder if I'd be allowed to take up this offer being as I'm currently a One-tel customer then, although it would be at a new address and with a new phone number so technically I'd be a new customer. The property is currently being supplied by British Gas for both gas and electric (which I'm also looking into as well at the moment) so maybe it would be worthwhile sticking with them to get the phone service.
Decisions, decisions ... I've got a headache LOL!"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Don't restrict yourself to keeping BG for both - I just went back to them for electricity (a uswitch recommendation) and qualified for the phone thing with just one utility. I didn't take it because of my experiences of OneTel's offshore call centre.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. I hadn't considered looking at going back to separate providers for gas and electric, assuming it would naturally be cheaper on a dual fuel deal, so thats something else I need to check out too. Cheers!"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

I signed up to Primus option 2, and have no problems so far, had my 1st bill, which was 4p (i phoned the dialler home before 6pm), and i also phoned them to set up Primus Privacy, and i got thru' first time, no press 1 or press 2, (but that could of been that the number i phoned was only for the privacy thing perhaps), and it was a Glasgow accent that i got on the other end, so overall i can't complain about my first 2 months on Primus.
Hope that helps, in some way!0
