Was your FSCS email diverted by Spam filter?

Mum's ISP was Eclipse whose Spiced Ham filter caught it.0

My home-brew spam filter let it through, but it got a high(ish) spam probability score. The reason is that the message was badly constructed (from a technical standpoint). I guess we have "hearfrom.com" to thank for that, since the message came via them.
... which gives me an opportunity to rant about one of my pet hates with banks in particular: the use of multiple domains/services. It's nearly impossible these days to tell whether messages (or sites) or genuine because banks have so many different domains:
https://www.bank.com, https://www.bank-online.com, https://www.bank-current-account-issue-three.com, https://www.bank-business.com, etc..0 -
Arrived in my usual inbox okIt was there waiting in my inbox on the morning of 5th Nov after being sent at 7.41pm the day before.
Outlook Express 6 and my personal Madasafish e-mail address. It was also in my MAAF Webmail inbox and not treated as "spam" by their system.
I forwarded it to my Hotmail address as a backup without any problem straight to inbox there.0 -
Arrived in my usual inbox okMine arrived in my email inbox without problem. I don't have a spam filter on because I hardly get any. I use Yahoo Mail and send/receive it via Mozilla Thunderbird. Spam filters are turned off in both.
I have one Yahoo address that I use for more formal things (e.g. Icesave) and have probably had about 3 spam emails in the last 5 years. I also have another Yahoo address I use for signing up for less formal stuff where I know my address is more at risk of being shared or being sent rubbish to (e.g. for this website - no offence!) and whilst I do get more junk mail to it, I still hardly get the genuine penis enlargement kind of spam.
I've never had a problem with spam but I guess I've been lucky. Another tip is to use unusual characters in the address (e.g. an underscore or a dash).0 -
I never got it, so can't vote as either option doesn't cover me0

Was diverted by spam filter to junk mailLots of people on TalkTalk had their emails blocked completely, someone on another thread called the FSCS helpdesk (how they got through I don't know) and was told that 350 talktalk customers hadn't received emails. I had to change my address in my ICESAVE account to an alternative and send a blank email to get the first email.~Chameleon~ wrote: »Just a quick poll to find out the proportion of FSCS email's being diverted by spam filters
Could those who ticked the "diverted as spam" box please state which ISP/email client you use so we can see which ones are guilty please?
Cheers :beer:0 -

This won't work in the way you think. Bayesian filtering is based upon past trends. So, because I get lots of email from investment/financial companies, my bayesian filter generally treats similar mail as "good". Conversely if you mainly get email about football and you get lots of financial spam, your bayesian filter is more likely to classify the FSCS mail as spam.
That's not exactly how it works, but it's the principle. It's why everyone will have a different filter criteria which will undermine your poll. Google Bayesian filtering for more.Mmmm, credit crunch. Tasty.0 -
Chamelion - I would maybe include in your poll those who (to their knowledge) never received an email either in inbox, junk/spam0

Switched off spam filter and email got through. I wouldn't necessarily suggest this means Eclipse are guilty. I suspect it has more to do with FSCS email record and with level of reporting to places like Spamcop.0
