I had the same thing with jenson, could barely walk. keep asking your mw to refer you to the physio. I got sent there, for free, and advised i had to lark about on a gym ball (fiver in argos if you get told the same) and given the belt for free. well, 2 supports actually, 1st one fitted but didnt help much so i got given a stronger one.
i still have it in my draw in my room... not sure if i'm allowed to offer to send to you if you cover postage? Obviously, try to get to physio first, if you are told to wait weeks, my support belt could be handy?hi if you contact your midwife or physio at maternity hosp they will give you one for free! they come in various sizes so would advise getting measured and shown how to wear it properly

My midwife said to use heat and it was she who suggested the hot water bottle between the legs. I double checked it with her as I know you shouldn't put a hot water bottle on your tummy when pregnant, so I was wary putting one close to the bump too. It seems that was the wrong thing to do though
My SPD started early on (about 18 weeks) and I ended up on bedrest by about 32 weeks, although part of that was due to developing polyhydramnious and severe oedema too. Here I go again on my own....0 -
It's such a frustrating condition - I felt like my Doctors and midwives largely glossed over how much pain I was in because it's a pregnancy related condition and I got pregnant so I had to suck it up. I discovered after I had my daughter that in actual fact I should have had a pelvic scan while I was pregnant to check the gap and it should have been monitored afterwards too. Physio told me there was nothing they could do to help me at all and that was that.
I have heard that acupuncture is excellent, I'm a bit of a sceptic about it so I never tried it but it might be worth looking into?0 -
As has been said get a referral to a physio, gym ball is excellent, lot's of other great advice, apologies if someone has already said it but I found a pillow between my knees helped when I slept as I slept on my side. Get someone else to hoover, that's a real killer, if you can have a soak in the bath do it while you can, I got so bad I couldn't lift my legs to get in the bath for a shower, and I got stuck in the bath before that my poor oh had to hoist me out (oh the shame).
Sorry for all the scare stories, take care and good luck with the babs.
eta- I found the pelvic partnership website useful ,they sent me some of the leaflets & they were goodBooo!!!0 -
My poor SIL has this and Restless Leg Syndrome. She is due in four weeks, she has a 2 year old and is on crutches!!
Go to your Doctor. GL:happyhear We are not put on this earth for ourselves, but are placed here for each other.

I suffered this too with my 3rd pregnancy and like others have said your midwife will be able to help you get a belt/tubigrip for free.
I does get better though! The pain suddenly got much much easier for me around 38 weeks when the baby dropped into the pelvis iyswim and although I get some mild pain since the birth its not too bad as long as I don't overdo it.
BTW my midwife recommended giving birth on all fours as that way no-one can open your legs wider than you're comfortable with:eek: . hthWorry is like a rocking chair - it keeps you busy but it gets you nowhere.

Hi Novice, I can sympathise with you - am 33 weeks and have had SPD for about 8 weeks now. Although it was permanent agony at first, as my body has got used to it, it's been easier to bear. I've been lucky that mine hasn't got worse.
I got a referral to physio who gave me some useful exercises to do and a tubi grip. I did by a band from eBay but also found it really uncomfortable I've pretty much abandoned it now.
Getting in and out of the car I found easier by putting a plastic bag on the seat which helps you to swivel a bit easier!
Take care0 -
I got a belt form my physio and was given exercises to do to try and strengthen my 'core muscles' after the pregnancy.
You can buy the belts on ebay if you can't get one elsewhere.
I must say though, although my SPD was agony with my second pregnancy - my third was much easier, and not nearly as painful with SPD. I think that was because I knew most of the tips - biggest tip I can give you...NEVER EVER EVER try to lift one leg (when getting dressed for example) - it's the killer move.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Violetta! I too got stuck in the bath with my first - not because of SPD, but general fattiness/bump/wedged/couldn't physically lift myself out! I too sat in there for hours crying until he came home...... I do understand the embarassment! I rarely bathe now!
And Blotted - my docs/midwifes are the same - it goes with the territory when pregnant so they too seem to be glossing over the pain. The last one I saw moaned that with so many kids I should be used to it by now (just as well there is a zero tolerance to violence against NHS staff!). Docs wouldn't refer me - as I am coping it obviously cannot be that bad. !!!!!!! I have 4 kids at home, I have no choice in getting up and doing stuff. ARGH!!!
Only 5 weeks to go, OH was laid off last week so from my point of view this is a good thing....0 -
I had this too - and found the belt just uncomfortable and not much use tbh. Mine was worst with my second pregnancy - although, and I'm a sceptic non believer - a woman at the local playgroup informed me that she'd prayed for me at prayer group as I was in such pain with is and struggled to walk - from then I had massive improvement!Amazing as the docs said it would only get worse as I got heavier. I'm on preg number 3 now and 6 months gone - touch wood, I've not had it too terribly as of yet. I am careful not to lift my other children now though and OH does the hoovering as apparantly a hoovering motion is the worst thing for it and hoovering should be the first thing delegated.MANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j
