Milk not going 'OFF'
Comments

about a month ago i decided to get our milk delivered by the milkman (going to the shop every other day means i 'have' to buy other things!).
my dad was a milkman when i was little and somehow it is more satisfying pouring milk out of a glass pint bottle than out of a 6pt supermarket one!
plus... the glass is recycled and if oh wants to drink a pint of milk he just takes the bottle (less washing up!). another thing what with me being clumsy i always used to spill the 6pt when just open as it was too heavy!
also, with the full fat you still get the cream on the top - yummy in coffee and porridge!
i know i probably pay a little more to get it delivered but it is worth it. plus we get ginger beer and other bits and pieces delivered tooit's nice to be important but more important to be nice!! :kisses3:0 -

The supermarket has a "supply chain" which means that the milk on the shelf is a few days or even a week old when you pick it up off the shelf!!
One of the reasons I only get my milk delivered from the local milkman - at least then I know where it's been :eek:Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
You get Ginger Beer from your milkman??? YUM!In the probably unlikely event that I actually post something of use to someone, an ickle vote of thanks would be much appreciated, in fact I might frame it and put it up on the wall next to my cycling proficiency certificate0

yes! they do all sorts of things!! big bags of potatoes, milkshake, all the fizzy drinks - even bags of compost in summer!!!
not forgetting the lovely gold topped milk!
the milkman is going to be so handy for me after oh has his operation - he will not be able to walk for a while and will need me at home more or less 24/7 so having my milk delivered 3 days out of 7 will be a relief and then i can do the big shop online and have that delivered too
i am a big beliver in supporting other local people - if you don't use the local shops, butcher and milkman then they will not be able to survive. i am only 30 but do not plan on moving house and i will need these services if i get ill and when i am old!!!!
(plus the milkman brings my bin and recycling box in for me too!!)it's nice to be important but more important to be nice!! :kisses3:0 -
I dilute milk by about 50%. If you buy full fat, this makes it taste much the same as semi-skimmed but at half the price. Interestingly, this also seems to make the milk go off less quickly - I suppose because more of it is water and therefore sterile.'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. Water isn't sterile  Mains supply will have been chlorinated, but that doesn't make it sterile.0
