Firefox 1.5 stability problems?

http://internetweek.cmp.com/175007058I have received almost 500 emails from Firefox 1.5 users over the last few weeks, most of which came from Scot's Newsletter readers. A surprisingly large number of you confirmed my suspicions about strained memory, CPU spikes, and browser freeze-up issues in Firefox 1.5. [~] Linux Pipeline Editor Matt McKenzie helped me write this in-depth follow-up, which also analyzes the memory problems, speculates on potential causes, and even provides a possible solution.

Sometimes firefox takes over 100mb of memory on my pc and I also have experienced it being frozen for a few secs. Firefox is taken 91mb now and I only have one window open and that's here. I wonder if extensions are taking a lot of room, I have limited them down to all but the essentials.0

I only just downloaded 1.5 yesterday and don't use Firefox much anyway.
But I posted it because I read it just after a friend told me of it freezing up.0 -
I keep using it because it has such good features, some of the extensions are great and a must have.. Try some of the extensions redux. To name but a few I use
showip
bookmark backup
gmail notifier (need email account)
IE view
adblock
ai roboform toolbar (saves passwords, login etc)
PDF download

I'm going to take it off and put 1.0.7 back on. 1.5 is slower, crashes sometimes on exit, and not all my extensions work with it.0

Does anybody else find that Firefox takes ages to launch sometimes?0

Yeah especially now the new version is out.. I think that Mozilla is
going down the wrong path of late..If it aint broke dont fix it....
I know patches are needed but I think they have lost the plot of late... IMO.0 -
Granted that 1.5 takes longer initially to load I find it better as it does not hog the memory when closed down in the way that 1.07 did. Give it time and the extensions will be made to work.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I'm still using my previous version of Firefox. I tried version 5 for a couple of hours, and came accross a problem I couldn't solve with this version and WMP. I uninstalled version 5 and went back to my old version.
From looking around different forums, it seems that this version is a bit buggy. I will upgrade, but only once I start seeing others complaining less about this version. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Mine uses 35MB atm, with about 8 tabs open, 3 Extensions, and a really nice skin.
I've never had ANY trouble with it being slow/crashing at all. Maybe I'm just lucky....0 -

Memory hog - tick
Browser freezeup - tick
