The MSE iPod Touch Thread

Thought it would be a good idea to have a central resource for all things iPod Touch related (except where to buy them.....please dont clag up this thread with offers and deals for the Touch). We could exchange hints and tips, share ideas and details of good apps and poor apps, and the more experienced among us could help the Touch newbies. Theres a whole host of Touch threads across the board that would take ages to search through.....bringing them together here seems a sensible move.

I'll kick off shall I......got my Touch this week. So far very impressed with the look and feel of it......Im more of a Windows person than an Apple person, but Bill Gates could learn loads from the Touch.

Went for a walk yesterday with the Touch.......every thirty yards or so it found an unsecured wifi connection.....just used them to show me where I was on the map......how does it do that? I have no idea as I dont think it has a GPS built in.

Downloaded Fring, which is a sort of single interface for all Instant Messenger apps.....used it to chat with my kids over MSN....note it doesnt find any people who ou have blocked in MSN. Waiting for Apple to release the earphones with the mic......then will try out the VOIP capabilities of Fring or some other application on the Touch.

Theres loads of free apps in the App Store.....theres a pool/snooker game that you can play other people which is good. I also downloaded the Linkedin app.....cut down but its OK.

Ebay doesnt quite display the right fields but its useable to keep track of your auctions. Betfair have a Safari version specifically for Touch/iphone.

Speaker is a bit tinny. Stocks is useful for checking up on my diminishing portfolio. Safari is fine for accessing normal websites....you can zoo in and out easily.

Is there any way of writing stuff in the Notes app, and then later on pasting into a browser window?

Also is there any way of saving a webpage for accessing it offline?

Cmon Touch owners.......sign in.

Thats like saying the 800+ posts in the Tesco voucher thread should be littered around the board as individual threads.

If youve got nothing constructive to add, :silenced: :silenced: :silenced:

the point being when people search the forum they may have to read 800+ posts to find the answer they need, where as if they are posted individually with a decent title people have more of a chance of finding the answer,

Its just as easy to search one thread (see SEARCH THIS THREAD button above) for eg "Ipod touch wifi" as it is searching multiple threads.

The point is that anyone acquiring a Touch wont have to search the whole board if theres one thread with all the info in it, as with Tesco Voucher Thread, Las Vegas thread.

I had an Ipod touch for my birthday, I've never had one before so I'm still trying to get used to it, I've got the following questions
    1. I've got a few videos that I've created using movie maker, is there a way I can get these on the ipod? I have tried and it just doesn't work!
    2. Is Itunes the best place to download music?

And are there any other handy features on this clever little thing I need to know about?!
    Thanks in advance

    1. http://www.videohelp.com/tools/XviD4PSP

    2. Personally I only use itunes to preview music I'm interested in, then go out and buy the cd album so I don't have the issues of DRM copy protection. If you want to buy digital versions then I would buy from Amazon who offer tracks DRM free. Problem with DRM is that is a online store you bought from decides to close them your music becomes unusable
