18185 cannot be used from a cable landline.
However, their (08081703703) freephone gateway number should work if VM haven't blocked it. Charges for calling 0845 and 0870 numbers are shown HERE.
Then again, you cannot access 0843, 0844, 0871, 0872, 0873 or 09 numbers via 18185 or its gateways.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

OK, thanks for that18185 cannot be used from a cable landline..
So, if I wanted to call an 0844 / 0845 /0870 from my cable phone, do I dial 08081703703 first? However, their (08081703703) freephone gateway number should work if VM haven't blocked it..
(providing VM have not blocked it
)
I can't seem to see VM, I think those relate to BT onlyCharges for calling 0845 and 0870 numbers are shown HERE..
OK Heinz, this is all new to me, trying to understand it all is very confusing. Then again, you cannot access 0843, 0844, 0871, 0872, 0873 or 09 numbers via 18185 or its gateways.
Just fyi, the VM package I have includes free 01 & 02 numbers 24/7.Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

You can use 18185's services for your 0845 and 0870 (but not 0843, 0844, 0871, 0872, 0873 and 09) calls via your VM line BUT ONLY via their 0808 and 020 gateway numbers.
That is, of course, provided VM have not blocked those gateway numbers.
The costs of calling 0845 and 0870 numbers via 08081703703 are shown on the link I gave previously (the third row in each case).

Hello Heinz
Thanks for your time, and I'm sorry if I sound stupid, but I'm not understanding this:
So, before dialing an 0845 / 0870 number, do I dial 18185 or do I dial 0808++++You can use 18185's services for your 0845 and 0870, BUT ONLY via their 0808 and 020 gateway numbers
Yes, I relooked, sorry I misread it originallyThe costs of calling 0845 and 0870 numbers via 08081703703 are shown on the link I gave previously (the third row in each case)

Open an account online with www.18185.co.uk and set up you payment method (DD, not CPA, advised). So, before dialing an 0845 / 0870 number, do I dial 18185 or do I dial 0808++++
When the account is live, dial 08081703703 and, after the prompt, dial your target number.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. If you read that thread a poster Oldharryrocks pointed out i quote
"If you use the 18185 Cable/Mobile 0808 FREEphone access number . They state on website 0845 calls cost 3p a minute weekdays and 1p at weekends.

Yet they only charge 0.5p a minute."0 -

So we disbelieve the 18185 site do we? where is your proof? (see comments below re my calling 084/087 numbers).
I know what their website says derrick!Shhhhhhhhhhhh
Heinz, you post a lot of good advice on this forum, but these stupid comments do nothing for your reputation.
The 18185 website contradicts your statements, so who do we believe? the official website, or some one on a web forum who cannot link to anything to substantiate that comment?
Personally I do not use 084/087 numbers unless absolutely necessary,(which in reality is just about never), but would need to trust the website of the company rather than some one who does not seem to be able to back up their comments, as would others who come onto this forum.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0
