Tesco's Flu jab £5

  • cos the vaccine contains derivative of egg same as MMR they oftern ask parents to ensure the child has had egg prior to the vaccine to ensure no allergy

  • Well it must be sheer coincidence that I've had the flu vaccine done every year without fail since I was 3 years old, and I have never suffered with flu. NOT ONCE. Even when my partner had HN151 strain this year. The vaccine is rigorously tested every year before it is issued to patients. I for one have a very good reaction to it, eg sore arm, and a sniffle, which shows your body is producing anti bodys to it!

I work in a health care setting around sick people every day, and I'm never ill! If the flu jab does not work, they would not administer it!

A word of warning though - this year, 2 vaccines were produced, one covers the current epidemic (strain HN151, and yes it IS an epidemic, more than 1 in 20 people have already had it!), one does not. Ask the person issuing it what strains it covers if you are worried about the epidemic this year!

And FYI, there are 2 types of vaccine, one produced in eggs, and one not so if you have an allergy to eggs it shouldnt be an issue?

Thanks, I didn't know that (and clearly neither did the nurse who refused me the jab!) I'll look into that.

Are you sure? That's an extremely high figure and doesn't correspond to the sort of numbers published in the press.

Since I had my jab this morning (better late than never!) I'm a bit curious about the 2 different vaccines, do you have any more details?

    Thanks

  • fyi this is not an epidemic, that is decided by the world health organisation and the HPU.....
