large button mobile
Hello, my lovely old Phillips Orange Savvy which is easy to use and see has been ruined by Orange. My credit card number changed owing to Barclaycard taking over Goldfish, I had to change the card number as I use it for topping up, on pay as you go. My phone worked perfectly up to this time.
The five pounds went in OK, then I got messages on the screen saying update error , on talking to Orange they said it was an old phone, and after much talking to them,(In India!!!) they decided my sim card needed replacing.
This came today, and my phone will not work, I feel like claiming a new phone off them because it worked perfectly until the credit card upgrade.
They said leave your phone on for 24 hours as its old it takes a while for them to send an e mail to the new sim card, all my phone does it keep going off on its own! I have to restart it. Anyway, tried ringing the mobile number from home phone and orange answered with leave a message, so I did, now all I get is the bleep teling me I have an answerphone message, however, I cannot access it, they have just messed up my phone.
Next question:
Does anyone have a large button, easy to use mobile that I can do receive calls, make calls and do texts, that is all I want, looking on the net tonight for ages all I can find p a y g is a Binatone for sixty pounds. Can anyone improve on that and where is the best place to go, Orange seems OK as I have never not been able to access a number from anywhere, we do not use the phone a lot, but it is necessary to have one.
Best regards, sorry this is a bit long.oap

There was a thread started a while ago requesting a phone with big buttons and people have put quite a few options on there. Heres a link to that thread

Hi all, I just had to put this post on a thread as I am so pleased with my new mobile phone
There is a similar post on over 50's but thought it may apply to anyone with elderly parents, or poor sighted people, anyway, I have bought the Binatone big button mobile from Maplins, it has only just been released in November for £49.99 free delivery. Pay as you Go, and not tied into anybody, so I have transferred myOrange sim card to it.
It is so easy to use, to programme, to read the figures and letters, you can see the screen in daylight, which on most mobiles is difficult as they are like mirrors, it has a torch in the end of it, and an easy 1 2 3 button to press for favourite numbers for those that cannot dial or fiddle with the menu. Texting is a doddle, and the menu and especially the instruction book is just great.:T
I can't praise it enough, it is just splendid. Not too heavy, very slim, and not too large. Easy to find on websites to see it.

Absolutely great, and you can actually see it in the daylight, it does not act like a mirror, been messing with it this morning, gosh it is so easy to use and the instruction book so easy to follow, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! I am sure pensioners everywhere will find it fantastic. You can alter the backlight tohelp with outdoors etc, and for my hubby, all he needs to do is press memory 1 on the front of the phone and it dials itself straight home!!!
I have sent Binatone an e mail to say how very pleased we are with it.
The price is very good too. Now it is not heavy, but it is bigger than the fiddly little things most people have, but you can actually read the letters easily and the numbers come up big on the screen. It is very slim though, and comes with battery and charger, you can put any sim card in it, I am pay as you go Orange, but whatever deal you have I presume your existing sim card will just carry on when you put it in as it is not tied to any particular server.
So far I have not made the letters bigger on the sms , not sure whether you can, but they are very clear and easy to read.
This phone as far as I can see is the only one at this price, with big buttons, especially for the older ones, or folk who cannot see too well, it also has a speakerphone, and also adjusts for hearing aids. If you go to the website for Binatoneonline.com
you can probably find the instruction book before you buy.
Best regards,,hope this helps, oap:T0
