    good luck!

Sorry not many places that you can park for free in York... odd place for 60min but thats really about it.... You do have free parking about 20min walk away in Wellington Street

Or a bit further away you have south bank... you have to remember where you are staying is in town.

Just park on one of the outerlying streets of York and get the bus in

Personally I would just find the cheapest 24 hour carpark in Central York and pay for that with some of the money you've just saved

You've still got a good deal if you park at the secure car park next to the Travelodge,

    Thanks guys.

Really looking forward to going, so from what you say, might be better just on the train.

There are a couple of Park & Ride sites for York, though I don't know the rules about parking overnight. York City Council's web site might help.

Wher are you travelling from? As York is on the ECML National Express East Coast often have some cracking deals, as do CrossCountry who also serve the station. York isn't served by Megabus, but Leeds is and you can get a connecting Yorkshire Coastliner bus from there if you wanna be a real public transport advocate.

As for parking in York City itself, well, it's gonna be expensive. But saying that you're lucky if you can get a hotel room in York for less that £70 p.r.p.n, so I guess you could just bite the bullet and pay the parking...

you could park outside my house, but it would mean getting the bus back into town 4 miles!

    Best bet P+R
    How much ?????????!!!
  • Hi,

You can park for free on the road on heslington road / thief lane (accurate as of this summer anyway) past the barbican - you can then walk to the travelodge in 5 / 10 mins. I also found when I stayed there there were 2 or 3 spaces to park next to the travelodge entrance but you could easily get blocked in and no guarantee you'd get one of the spaces.
