MFI going bust?

Does anyone know anything about this? I have just got £2500k of vouchers for them (courtesy of beef in gravy from Tesco), and went to choose my kitchen yesterday. The shop is shut until Boxing Day, so "staff can rest", - I could accept this but the web site is also closed and I read a while back they were struggling

I dont want to find out that I cant get my kitchen anyone know anything?

it doesnt look good for them at the moment financially but I dont think it will be in the next few months if they do go under. As you say the financial whispers are not positive!

The website is working for me though so it might be a temporary server problem rather than a sign of impending doom.

I have to ask - how much of that dam beef in gravy can one person eat!!! you must have bought tonnes of the stuff...

I dont have any solid info , someone more knowledgeable than me will be along later, but I do remember MFI doing this last year or the one before. They were closed for a week before xmas and opened early boxing day, for what is usually one of theier busiest times ....ie their big sale

hope it works out ok for you
  • Colin they always close the week before christmas ready for their sales, i do not know about the website though.

am a little more relieved that I can get the kitchen in Jan - will try the web site again as it would not let me look at anything earlier just said closed for the sale (I dont want the price just the kitchens so I can design and choose etc
  • There is a rumour that Howdens Joinery are in financial difficulties, and this is part of the MFI group, so there is definately something amiss, but they aren't saying what......

Personally, I wouldn't buy a kitchen from them as my parents had a real awful time with them recently. Half the kitchen stuff didn't arrive, when it did it was faulty and their call centre didn't believe my parents. When it was all over and a complaint was lodged with head office they phoned my mum and asked if all the stuff was now received and when they were told yes (after months of back and forth, phone calls complaints etc) she was basically told to bog off and stop complaining cos they'd done what they were contracted to do!!
Am I talking to myself or wot?!

:o:p Please come and play with me, I'm bored xx :T :p
