Wrong opening meter reading
In August i switched gas supplier from e-on to Atlantic.
Ive had my 1st bill today with a starting reading of 1703 and estimated end reading of 1747. Ive checked my meter and its saying 6926 ???? Ive either been living in a sauna everyday or someone got it wrong
Ive rung Atlantic and theyve said to ring them in a week with another reading and they will work out what the opening reading should of been and calculate me a bill accordingly. This sounds all very well but i havent had my heating on since August and and a lil concerned that they will base the bill on my winter useage.
I have called E-on and all theyre saying is that Atlantic have raised a dispute with them as they have the same reading, all a bit confusing i know, does anyone know what i should do next???? Thanks

first things first - make sure you're reading the correct meter gas/electric - sounds stupid, but believe me, I've muddleed them before when I was in a hurry.
next, dig out your old utility bills and try to track where the discrepancy comes in.
See where that takes you...0 -
Have you had your final bill from EoN? Did they use the end reading of 1703?In August i switched gas supplier from e-on to Atlantic.

If they did was the bill in line with your expectations, ie was it about right for the period in question. Did the reading of 1703 seem to follow on from previous EoN bills?
Just to add, normally when you switch the new supplier asks you to read the meter on the changeover day, did you do that and if so what reading did you give.0 -
I moved in to this house late July so hadnt had any previous bills, E-on are saying that their final reading is 1703 although i havent had their bill yet, they tell me it could be another 6 weeks because of this dispute. My gas meter is in the house, electric is outside so its definately the right meter im reading, thought i might of been having a blonde moment when i saw it hehe.Dont allow someone to be your priority.....whilst letting you be their option0

Don't suppose THEY read the electricity meter instead of the gas one then? Or maybe read your neighbours one or something silly... if they have to go inside ot read the gas meter then you'd have been there when they read it wouldn't you?
I don't have gas so bear with me if I'm wrong - but do gasmeters usually reside indoors??DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

i havent got a meter box key to look at my electric on to see if the reading could be similar. Every other house ive lived in have always had the meter outside so am not sure why its inside.Dont allow someone to be your priority.....whilst letting you be their option0
