Cinema Costs!! - 2nd mortgage anyone?

I rarely go to the cinema. i did make an exception for Mama mia though. I scan all my shopping for factfinders which nets me about 6 adult cinema tickets a year. Also sometimes order one from pigsback. I give these to my teenagers as they like to go to the cinema a lot.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

My OH and i only go to the cinema on Wednesdays now when its Orange Wednesdays and 2 for 1. I will not pay nearly £15 for 2 cinema tickets, its daylight robbery, especially when you then have to pay for over priced sweeties, drink and popcorn. I remember when i was young, and my parents took me to the cinema, was sooo much cheaper compared to now.

The prices are fine to me, its not something i aim to do weekly like others but on odd occasions.

Just been looking online to book to go and see Quantum of Solace and cannot believe the prices!
To book 2 tickets online for 6.30 this evening
Tickets £6.80 each x 2 = £13.60
Card admin fee (?) £1.40
Total cost £15
But...
To buy tickets at the cinema for 11.45 on Saturday
Tickets £4.75 each x 2 £9.50
No admin fee!!
Total cost £9.50
So a difference of £5.50 to see the exact same film in the exact same place - am I missing something?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1:mad:
End of rant

Also, there are signs behind the drinks dispensers saying to fill at least 50% of the cup with ice.
I knew they did that deliberately, and I've always asked for no ice in my juice anyway :cool:Owing to financial constraints, the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off until further notice.

I must admit I enjoy the experience of going to the cinema.
No DVD/TV experience can match it.
Having said that I take my own popcorn, which we make before we go - much to the disgust of DS who wants to disown me, and some drinks.
Haven't been for a while but I suspect QofS will be next on our list0 -

Got a reply, just fobbing me off really with the excuse that if you want to go for a cheaper time you can! Might have known!
In the event I didn't see the film cos when we arrived to park up half the car park was full and the other half reserved for the permit holders at the Galpharm stadium as there was a match on:mad: mind you saved myself £9.50 and didn't have to sit through a boring boy film :rotfl:0 -
Went for a free walk along the Downs last week. Was outraged at the cost!
By the time you take into account chartering the helicopter we flew there in, aviation fuel, a pilot, and the caviar and chamagne we ate whilst we were there, we didn't get much change from £20,000. Just for a walk on the Downs!! I'm going to write to the council.
Seriously guys, £6-50 a person for a great evenings entertainment isn't much money really is it? Sure you can add on fuel costs, parking and food, but the cost of petrol is hardly the cinemas fault and if you find the food too dear, don't buy it. If you can't last a couple of hours without stuffing your face then it's a bit of a sad job.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. How is that fobbing you off!?
You can go at a cheaper time if you want.
But if you want to go at the most popular time, expect to pay the full price. That's not unreasonable is it? .Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
