If its used for homework then try maybe ebuyer or aria or dabs, and dont forget to back it up on a daily/weekly basis, kingston memory sticks have been fine for me but you might be able to find cheaper ones0

I would buy a Sandisk one - they have quicker read/write times, are readyboost and U3 compatible if you do decide to use windows. Costs are broadly in line with other brands, and there is a 2 year warranty as well

If it's for school and you can trust him not to lose it, the sandisk titanium ones might be better as they are a lot tougher. I have the titanium one and it is brilliant. The plastic ones are a lot more susceptible to damage, especially being thrown around in a school bag.
They are bit more expensive though. But as my last flash drive was only replaced because the case was damaged and not because the drive died, they should last for a long long time.0
