Abbey Current Account Customers?

Does any one currently have a Abbey current account?
I am thinking of switching as they are offering 0% overdraft for 12 months but my concern is are they part of this new quick transfer between banks?
ie HSBC who i currently bank with can do same day payments to other banks (if they accept) I can send money from HSBC to alliance and leicester online and it will reach the same day.
Any ideas?

I have a Abbey Current account and they don't offer this yet.
Have a look at the link below, enter your bank's sort code and it displays if the scheme is available to that bank.

I personally would not recommend Abbey for a current account even with the 8% interest. They will mess you about one way or another imo0

Im not planning to use it, just abuse the interest free offer.
Wages paid in, wages moved to my main current account
Only really wanted to do it if they offered fast payments, al though i dont have an Abbey sort code so cant check0 -

As far as I know they are not part of the fast payment scheme and I do not expect them to be as they completely useless - their staff are totally incompetent. However, you can use 090126, but I strongly suggest yo do not open an account with them. You have been warned!!Before doing something... do nothing0 -
Thanks for that, my bank at HSBC does accept FPS but does anyone know if Abbey sends them?!0

Abbey does NOT Send or Receive fast payments.
Just wanted to to say I have been with Abbey since 1998 and didn't really have any problems with them.
I simply put money in and take out. They have been nice and offered and upgraded my account in the past (Basic to Current). They also upgraded my debit card (Electron to Visa) and offered me Over Draft.-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

hi, how long did you have to wait to upgrade from an electron to a visa? And the overdraft. The reason i ask is i have a current account with them but no visa. How did you manage your account? Did you get any charges etc? I have dire credit to be honest so maybe thats why they wont. Do you know if they do it simply on internal scores or are you credit checked for an upgrade or overdraft? Cheers0 -
I ussed to have an account with Shabby, for 2 years after National & Provincial were sucked in by them. I suffered from very poor service, they seem to forget that the money they have is only on loan to them from US. From what I have seen on this and other forums not a lot has changed in the intervening period.
They only do two things fast: take your money and then deny responsibility for their big time !!!!-ups.
My advice would be stay well away. That coming from a shareholder says all you need to know.0 -

abbey hasn't taken any money from any sort of bailout, when they need liquidity its injected from Santander, being a shareholder of abbey- i guess your disappointed with their 20% rise in profits year on year as well then?;)0 -
Abbey do not offer the fast payments yet, they will sometime early next year. I work for Abbey and got an internal communication about this and the reason for taking it up later than the rest is because of the A&L aquisition taking priority to anything else.
Right now, Abbey are in a cost savings exercise that has been going on ever since Santander took over (I was there before it was part of Santander), the main driver is to make money at the absolute lowest cost!
The part of Abbey I work in has nothing whatsoever to do with current account, but if the practices I see on a daily basis for the high networth clients that I deal with are anything to go by, then I can't imagine the customer service given to "simple" current account holders will be any good...
I do have an Abbey account (switching to A&L to grab the £100 sign up bonus plus the refer a friend cash!), I'm a Santander shareholder and have an Abbey credit card though and don't have any complaints... my financial affairs are very simple to be honest so I can't see where they would be able to get it wrong! 1 Direct Debit, 2 standing orders and my salary is all the movements my account sees!0
