People up north miss out on cheap day trips to France etc

Perhaps to make it fair, we should rotate the country twice a year?0

I'm a Northerner and I agree - even airmiles charge an extra 500 miles to use them from Manchester.
The drive to Dover is a real drag. I tend to use Portsmouth now just for sheer speed.
Now BMI are taking our Chigaco/Vegas and Barbados flights to the south.
Give us a break or we'll start charging for people to pass North of Watford Gap lol0 -
Than I'd be really near those Scottish Islands near the Highlands (what are they called again?) if you turned the country around lol
I am about 40 miles or so away from Dover, even my bus takes me there. But other than that it takes ages to go anywhere from where I am, ie to travel UP NORTH.
The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0 -
Wait for global warming to kick in. Then most of the south west will be under water so the ferries will dock a bit closer to you.0

But then the north of the country will be cramped and people will just end up falling into the sea0 -
 Well - I'm down south & It ain't much better -In the far south west to be exact.
Takes about 10/11 hrs to get to Dover by coach (being generous).Maybe 9 hours if you self drive & traffic not too bad.
3 1/2 hours to Bristol airport, yes, we do have Exeter (that's 1 1/2 hours away) but they don't have Ryanair or Easyjet so no cheapies:mad:
And as for the Plymouth to Roscoff ferry, you'd need a 2nd mortgage:rolleyes: Every time i've tried I've been quoted between £500 & £700:eek: That's just the ferry mind:eek:
Certainly no cheap day trips but we can sometimes get a long weekend from Newquay to Girona which is lovely but some more choice would be nice:D
It always takes us longer to get to the airport than the flight to get where we're going, and another 5/6 hours on the train after landing in London.
so I'd like a good moan about the people up north close to airports who can get cheap weekends away to lots of nice places:rotfl:
and we still have the rip off house prices:rotfl: :rotfl:
and the highest water rates in the country:mad:
& the lowest wages in the UK:mad:
no motorways
& no restaurant chains which take the coupons from Martin's emails:mad:
Ok I'll shut up now:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
"no restaurant chains which take the coupons from Martin's emails"
Neither do we cos we don`t live near a big city, we miss out on free samples at the big stores as well that are advertised on here as well!
Also a lot of cheap flight deals are at Stanstead.0 -
Every cloud has a silver lining
Living in Ayrshire I find that the sheep are a lot less fussy than those in the South of England0 -
That's a really baaaaaaaad joke...0
