@ Airwolf1 ok i had another bash at installing IE7 from the link supplied by kev1n3 and i downloaded it and saved it to my desktop this time. It downloaded and saved to the desktop fine. then i ran the install it went through things like

Downloading updates for Internet Explorer 7
Running Microsoft Malicious Software Removal tool
I missed one then something about core updates
Installing Windows Internet Explorer Critical Upgrades

    Then it said
Setup was unable to install the latest updates. After you restart your computer, open Internet Explorer, click the tools button, and click Windows updates.

When i opened Internet Explorer the page popped up but it did not have any buttons on it at all it did have the continuous blue line at the top with the minimise maximise and exit buttons on it, and below that it had the search boxes for IE and google. I tried to click on to see if i could find the missing buttons but again as soon as i clicked the page it disapeared and kept doing this every time. I switched off the firewall shouted at the wife and had already activated windows automatic updates and stuff. tried to install in safe mode to.
So I tried to reinstall it but after the install the same thing happened again (No Buttons) so i did it again but this time after it said about the setup problem another error box popped up and that said.

Dr Watson Postmortem De!!!!!! has encountered a problem and needs to close we are sorry for any inconvienience.

Then i decided to do a system restore to the last day would not restore to the last day either so i tried the day b4 that same thing so after fiddling with my pc for 6 hours  i am back to where i was last night IE6.
The solving of a problem lies in finding the solvers.

Ive heard that anyone that tries to unistall IE6, effectively kills internet explorer from ever working again!
I read that on a techie forum a few years back with another bloke that had done it
Your not supposed to uninstall it, it just updates itself

I used to have XP and I uninstalled my IE6 once, it reinstalled itself when I rebooted.
