Oh dear! lol, hubby set it up and I doubt if he will remember. I've had a stab at some 'possibles' but no luck. Would there be a way around it if he can't remember ? Im thinking not......

Just reset it with a paperclip hold in for 10 secs its on the side of the router.

Did you try leaving the password blank? if not it is possible to reset the router to factory defaults which would set the password as blank. You could then go through the configuration again. I believe they may have a wizard on the dlinks for the config, although it's been a while since I've used one.

Definately. What happens if you try a repair on the wireless connection on your laptop?

Have you switched the wireless off?

it goes through 'disabling' / 'enabling' / sits on 'connecting for about a minute, then says 'Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed : Connecting to the wireless network'. It's really strange as I had been online when this all happened and I've not upped my firewall or anything. I really appreciate all your help by the way!

Sounds like wireless is enabled then, just a problem with your connection settings. If you right click on the wireless icon and view available wireless connections can you see your connection. If so, is it showing as a security enabled network (WPA or WEP)? If it is, do you know your wep key.
