D-Link wireless router help please

Hi, I have used this D-link model DI-524 connected to PC and running a couple of laptops and games consoles through it for over a year now with no problems. However, when I was online today my wireless on laptop lost the connection. I think the problem is to do with the 'status' light on the D-Link, it's blinking but it says on the underside of the box that it should have a solid green light to show connection. I have tried taking out the cables and re-fitting them, and removing the power for a few minutes but nothing is working. I have not tried the reset button yet....hope I dont have to really! I was the only one home at the time, and I know I didnt do anything to it so can't understand why this has happened. Any help from a technically minded person would be much appreciated thanks

Hi there. Is the router connected to a cable modem (as in virgin media) or is it an adsl modem router (plugs into a microfilter in a telphone socket on the wall?

Hi there. Is it just wireless you're having issues with? Does your wireless device show as connected or not?

On my laptop the wireless icon at the bottom is crossed through. Before I realised the light on the D Link was flashing, I tried a repair on my laptop connection and re-booted it so don't think thats the problem. Would have to wait till hubby gets home to try his PS3 and that to see if any of them still get on as I've not a clue how to go online with them.

A blinking status light indicates that the DI-524 is ready. Log into the router from the PC connected via Ethernet cable and check the status of the router. Is it only your laptop that you are having problems with?

On a pc connected by ethernet cable to the router go to http://192.168.0.1 (if the router address hasn't been changed from the default) you will be asked to login (default is admin:admin hopefully this has been changed) you can then select check to see if Wireless is still enabled on the router by selected status on the top and also you can check the settings by selecting wireless on the left. See if any of these are stating disabled

If the default ip address isn't 192.168.0.1 go to start -> run on your pc, type cmd, press enter and in the black dos box type ipconfig and press enter. You will see a load of network connection information. One line will state default gateway. This is the ip address of your router. If it says 192.168.10.55 type http://192.168.10.55 into your web browser

That's probably a good thing. Means not set as default. However, you need to get the password from the person who set up the router. Unless you can guess what it was set as

You could always try leaving the password blank. ie just username admin, no password
