Currys - Problems with refund

Hi,

I purchased an item from Currys Online which I am trying to take back to a local store. The store refuses to accept the item even though customer services are telling them they must (their area manager says it's policy). The item is still sealed and unused so it's not because of that. Currys Online tell me there will be a big delay in sending out lables to post the item back because of the fire in hemel heampsted where ther admin is based. I am mega annoyed and don't know what to do, the store is Redhill Surrey and they were really rude to me. This is an obvious breach of their terms and conditions.....

I have taken time out today to return the item at my expense (currys online actually told the store to expect me) but no refund just the offer to post it back for me! I am going round in circles....

I need help.......

They must accept it in-store. Basically the manager won't want to refund anything before xmas as it might affect him getting his incentive bonus.
They don't have a leg to stand on
  • I have done this, to be fair Currys customer services are totally bemused with this. I just had a call from a girl their who is putting in a complaint about the attitude of the store. She said she could nit believe how rude they were to her and she works for currys. I think i am going to email customer services with a link to this post. The store have a disgusting attitude and i will never purchase another item from them.

Thanks for the reply though. Maybe BBC Watchdog or Trading standards should be next as they are in a clear breach of their contract with the customer.
  • didnt know there was a currys in redhill

try the crawley one done the road
  • I was thinking that but it's likely they have the same area manager. The way this store treats its customers their might not be one in Redhill for too much longer!
  • just tell them you will stay in the shop until they sort it

That may lead to you being removed from the store by the Police.

It would be better to show the Manager the T&Cs as posted earlier.
If the manager is still reluctant to help, ask him or her to call the customer services number to explain the position to them.

This has been already tried, read earlier post..........

I was thinking of not leaving the store but they really will not budge. I had to hand my mobile to the store manager (I was on the phone to customer services) even when told by them they still refused to refund.

    It is totally unbelievable.........
  • whats the item out of interest?

Ok, as your head is probably now hurting from it hitting the wall...

Try contacting your credit card company. Explain the situation (i.e. that you have attempted to return the goods as described in the T&Cs of the contract, and under the terms of the distance selling regulations) but that the supplier is refusing to refund you.

Ask the cc company to initiate a charge-back.

In the meantome, you could write to the company reminding them that you decided to cancel the contract under the DSR but have been unable to return the goods to them despite several attempts. Give them 21 days notice in which to collect the goods from you otherwise tell them you will dispose of them.
