saw this thread and had to reply:rolleyes:!
had to pay my goldfish stooze off asap, well tried to on sat. had no probs with egg card - did large amount all over phone.
barclaycard goldfish said they could not accept payments over 3k! which would mean ringing up for 3 days running to pay off balance! so they suggested i go to my nearest barclays branch to do this.
i did this today at some cost via public transport, and guess what? i could not do it after all as the account details were of no use in the branch if i did not have a barclays account/debit card (which i do not)
i did it today via online banking - but i had wanted to do it direct so it was immediate and definite as such.
i have fired off a letter which includes all my public transport tickets for a refund:rotfl:
the other thing many goldfish users may notice is that the current statement has all the old sort code/account no on etc and this has changed (apparently it will be on the next bill!) - so you may find that the money is in the ether for a bit and potentially could incur a late payment fee:rolleyes:0 -
Roundabout September when Barclaycard took over Goldfish, I remember the letter saying....Barclaycard are taking over Goldfish, but don't worry you don't have to do anything.... So I didn't!. I paid my Golfish in November in full and that went through O.K.and I paid in December in full. My bank statement showed this latter amount coming out of my account on 1st December (due with Goldfish on 6th). My Goldfish statement arrived today with £30 late payment/interest charges on as they didn't receive my payment until 16th December!!
Apparently whilst being told to do NOTHING WHAT WE SHOULD DO IS CHANGE THE SORT CODE AND ACCOUNT NO. which is now on the reverse of our statements.
SO PLEASE BE AWARE IF YOU HAVEN'T MADE THIS CHANGE, DO SO OR YOU WILL BE CHARGED.
INCIDENTALLY I GOT THEM TO REFUND THE CHARGES AS THEY ADMITTED THEY HADN'T TOLD PEOPLE TO MAKE THIS CHANGE. HOPE THIS IS CLEAR.

 Hi all
After many years of happy service with Goldfish, these jerks at Barclaycard really screw up. Within 1 month of taking Goldfish over they move my standing order payment date to halfway in the month, so my automated payment from another bank account fails.
They still have not cleared the monthly amount I sent them 3 days ago, so my account is limited, all I ever get is someone in Mumbai, who I cant understand.
and to add insult to injury, they charge 70p per minute for customer support line. Their offices are only 20 miles from me and I am this [1/4"] close to driving over there...........SO...question. Does anyone please know another card that operates as good a reward scheme as Goldfish. Then I can dump Barclays PDQ. I hate them with a vengeance. They are to me everything that epitomises crummy, poor performance and liberty taking bankers..............
Sorry about the rant, but they [and mobile phone call centres] make my blood boil.0 -

I have suffered the same thing. I paid my bill in good faith 10 days before the due date having never missed a payment. 1 day after the due date I had a letter telling me I was in arrears and not only had I incurred a late payment charge I had lost my promotional interest rate.
I too hadn't changed the payment details but the payment had still gone through ok to my old goldfish account. there wasn't any warnings on the statement, which would of helped, and the last person I spoke to said the account number had changed and is on the top of the statement...indeed it is in very fine, small print.
they recovered the money and eventually cancelled the late payment fee as a 'good will' gesture lol.
they wouldn't revert my account to the promotional rate so I transferred the balance immediately.
you would think they would like my account at any rate but obviously not. hopefully this will be the last time I have to deal with them.
if you pay by internet banking or some method where you don't check the details each month it may be worth checking you've paid it to the right account.0 -
I wrote to Barclays again and the Financial Ombusdman then got a £20 credit and late charges refunded. Not enough for the hassle but something at least.
I am keeping the card as it has a high credit limit but not using it anymore. Got an A & L card with cash back that seems to offer better servcie at least so far.
Barclays and Tesco Personal Finance must be the worst in the wolrd for customer service, stay well clear!!Makes the world go around eh...0
