Barclays take over Goldfish fiasco

Barclaycard took over Goldfish last week and what a fiasco.
We did not get any new cards or pin numbers, our Goldfish card was stopped on the 27th therefore our monthy subscriptions could not be taken, some resulting in late payment charges & to top all that we cannot get to speak to anyone with any sense at Barclaycard to resolve the issue!
All we were told was you have to visit a branch with ID.
We have faxed them a complaint, totally ignored, made a comlaint to the customer services, thats a laugh, of course it is not there for customers service, who told us that someone will call back within 3 hours, of course nobody did, Barclaycard do not care about its customers at all.
With nearly 10 years with Goldfish we never had any problems at all and always got to speak with some nice Scottish people, not transferred to to sub continent!
So be very very careful if you are thinking of ever getting a card with this company, they are faceless!!

WATCH OUT, THEY SCREW UP YOUR DIRECT DEBIT & CHARGE YOU FOR IT...
I rang Barclaycard customer services on the day they swapped over from Goldfish, to confirm that the direct debit was correctly transferred and would be paid in full.
A few days later I noticed on the Barclaycard website that my Direct Debit details didn't look correct. So I rang a second time. Gave them my current account details again and was informed that all was now correct.
I noticed on the day that they should have taken the payment, it hadn't gone from my current account or arrived with them. The recent transactions list showed my balance paid and then refunded by DD. So, rang them a third time to find out why - because it still wasn't set up correctly. I also confirmed with them on the call that I wouldn't be charged interest or late payment fees - after all, it was their problem not mine. I paid the balance 2 minutes later, in full, using a maestrocard.
On the same day I also sent them a secure message, to which I had a reply confirming that all was now correct and I would not be charged.
Today, I check this months statement online, made up yesterday. I've got late payment and interest charges for the missed DD payment for last month.
A fourth call to their customer services I have had them write to Experian and Equifax to inform them that I missed my payments because they are completely incompetant. The guy read the letter back to me, but it probably won't get sent.
He also informed me that a "high number" of people will also be in the same
situation, and probably don't yet know.
I DON'T miss my payments, never have and hopefully never will, and I'm less than happy at their inability to do a relatively simple job.
Don't forget to use their freephone number 0800 0282 360 option 20 -

Never any problems? When Goldfish took over Frizzell/Liverpool Victoria cards there was a similar shambles to that happening now.0 -
Well, to put another view, my switch from Goldfish to Barclaycard went very smoothly. I even complicated matters by getting married and changing my name...no problems! Hope you get yours sorted out...0

I never had a single problem in 9 years either....
Have managed to speak to someone at Brokenlycard in Teeside today though, a slight improvement on many people I've got connected to who they employ on the other side of the world.0 -

My problems will go away if I can get my credit limit increased on my Shell card - as Brokenlycard will then see the last of my business.0 -

How did you manage to get to speak with someone on Teeside? We always get the Indian sub continent answering our calls.
The more I read the more I am inclined to drop Barclaycard altogether, just a shame as we had a good record and a high credit limit.. Ah well, they always win in the end the big guys.Makes the world go around eh...0 -
Earlier in the year i bought a computer on my goldfish card and because i had a lot of problems with it Curries agreed to take the computer back and refund the money to me at the time i did not think too much about it,
but today i went to my bank a barclays branch to pay of my barclaycard bill and i wanted to use the credit on my goldfish card to pay part of the barclaycard bill and pay the rest in cash,
when i got to the teller i was told that if i paid the barclaycard with the credit on my goldfish card i would be charged for doing that because i was taking money out on a credit card and being in credit on the card made no difference it was still making a cash transaction on a credit card,
in the end the only way that i could get the credit off the goldfish card without being charged was to close the goldfish card account and have the credit paid into my current account and while i was doing that i closed the account on the barclaycard that was sent to replace my goldfish card because i already had a barclay card and i did not need two accounts with the same company,
i was completly fuming at the bank this morning because what they were trying to do was just daylight robbery, it does not matter that you have credit on a credit card they want to charge you for taking your own money out of your account,
i used the service phone in the branch of barclays that i was in and that took me to the customer service over here so i did not have the problem of not being unable to understand the person on the other end of the phone.0 -

Unfortunately this is correct, you cannot generally not use one Credit Card to pay off another even if it is in credit.
You could have simply asked Goldfish to refund the positive balance to you by way of cheque though. Then you could have paid Barclaycard as normal. I know its too late now, but this is not normally a problem.0 -
it is still a con by the credit card companies they are making money on the credit that is on your card and then charge you for taking the money out.0
