Please please don't buy a beko one...you will truly regret it when it goes wrong which it most likely will. The compressor packed up on ours just after a year and we lost both fridge and freezer contents setting us back about £60. Do a search on the forum and you'll find there's a few of us here who've fallen victim of Beko. Although i did manage to get a free repair on ours despite being out of guarantee it took alot of persistence and mentioning "unmerchandisable quality" . Their customer service was one of the worst i've ever been unfortunate enough to experience (be prepared to be hung up on multiple times or passed around in circles). Whilst they work then Beko is ok but when they fail you'll realise it really is false economy going with a cheap brands. Spend a bit extra and go for a zanussi.

Have you had a look at freecycle? On ours there's a fridge or fridge/freezer given away most weeks...
Then once you've got one you can put your broken one on freecycle (remember to say it's broken) and someone who thinks they can fix it might want it.

The refrigeration engineer who fixed ours i would highly recommend ...unfortunately he is based in Kent and doesn't cover your area else i'd send you his details.

A few of you posted same as a few who posted about hotpoint and white knight etc etc etc ...They all go wrong..:o

at the end of the day as I have said sometimes they last for ages ( like ours) and sometimes they dont Like yours.....

Personally a swear by white knight tumble dryers ( ours is now 7 years old)..

and our oldhotpoint washing machine gave us nothing but trouble...

but The old PRO-LINE 5foot freezer we inherited of my parents is now in its 18th year....

our £2.99 toaster is still going strong after 8 years which is 16 times longer than the £30 one we had before that..

You mention zanussi we once had a zanussi oven and it was trouble from the begining to the end......

I no longer belive there is a good brand and a bad brand..they are all much the same you can spend £500 on one that lasts 5 years or £250 on one that lasts 2 1/2 years....

I'm not disputing that they do go wrong whatever make or however much you spend. But what i'm really pointing out is that i'd far rather deal with say zanussi (i said that because of recommendations i had including from refrigeration engineer) than Beko customer [strike]service[/strike] disservice having had experience in dealing with both.

Our zanussi oven went wrong on day one (factory wiring fault causing fan to stay on permanently) ...but they sent out an engineer first thing the very next day without needing to phone many times before they would even consider sending someone out. Because of the way they dealt with the problem it wouldn't stop me buying from them again. At the end of the day you get what you pay for..even if there is little technical difference between a zanussi and a beko what your paying for is additional peace of mind for a 3 year guarantee rather than 1 year and better service. We were without fridge/freezer for over a week..it cost us dearly both in food we lost and in buying fresh food and takeaway every day. Would i buy beko..definitely not. Would i buy zanussi ..yes.
