I bought a Motorola V220 on O2 from these last week http://www.buymobilephones.net/store/fulldetails-9895.ihtml.

If you follow the link, you'll see it was supposed to be a silver one (from the picture) but they sent a black one.

The tariff was supposed to be 02 250 but I've just received my first bill from 02 and the tariff shown is Best for Business 250. To keep things brief I'll copy the exchange of e-mails below;

Me to buymobilephones.net - Hi......I purchased a Motorola V220 from you on 14/12/05. The tariff was supposed to be 02 250. I've just received my first bill from O2 and the tariff shown is Best for Business 250. A search of the 02 web site shows that these plans have different T & Cs. Can you please let me know why I've been put on this plan and whether this will affect the cashback?

Their reply - It doesn't affect your cashback in any way, best for business is just the name of the tariff

In view of the fact they've sent a black phone when I ordered silver, and they put me on a tariff other than the one agreed, their brief reply does not fill me with great confidence. I did a search on here before I ordered and the comments I saw seemed to be generally favourable.

I'm thinking of sending the phone back but, as it is an Xmas present for my young son, I need to do it quickly and re-order elsewhere if that's what I decide to do.

Any advice gratefully received:)

    I'm in more or less the same situation with

    http://www.coolnewmobile.co.uk/index2.asp?submit.x=81&submit.y=11&id=2

    They sent a black Motorola V220 instead of the silver one shown on the website, although the website does not actually specify a colour (in written description) for the phone. The functionality of the black phone should be exactly the same as the silver one.

    Regarding the tariff, they put me on the right one which is O2 200 + 100 sms. However, when I received my first bill, there is an item called 'Ireland Bolt-on' under service charge but shown as £0.00. Does anyone know what this is?

    Also, during the ordering process, I made it clear that I did not want the 3 months free insurance by checking the box which says ' Please tick the following box if you do not want the 3 months free insurance '. They still arranged it for me anyway and I got the insurance details and direct debit confirmation in the post. I then cancelled the DD mandate immediately through internet banking and rang this number:

    01252 788300 - instead of the 0870 number shown on the documents which will get you through to the same place. Do not press any buttons during the automated menu as it will say you must put it in writing if you wish to cancel your insurance. I simply held on and got straight to an advisor, told her that I got the documents for insurance which I did not request for, and she said she would cancel it for me and sent me confirmation in the post.
