£500 cash alot of cash for a holiday? I spend more than that on a 3 day city break. I took £1500 in Euros for a fortnight in Italy and still withdrew more.

Can I have your disposable income level please ? ;)

Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying
  • More annoying is that my bank treat purchase of premium bonds or investment in cash ISA as cash so you cannot use your debit card to invest in more than £500 at a time

I find that strange. I have used my Co-op Bank Debit card to invest my £3000 lump sums into cash ISAs for years. No charges.
  • On ringing them it tuns out this was a purchase of some foreign currency from Travelex and they are trying to tell me this is a cash advance
    .

All credit cards that you use at Travelex are treated as a cash advance and all issuers will charge.

Best way to pay is by debit card or cash of course as there will be no cash advance fee.

Perhaps you can explain how you spent £1500 while on holiday. Assuming you were on H/B, this sounds like a lot of expenditure. Hope you spent it wisely, or perhaps you were taken for a mug and been overcharged everywhere you went.

There can be a cash advance fee if you use your debit card. That is what I was complaining about earlier.
