I think I just feel a bit cheeky, but its not that I am ungrateful for the gift it is just I don't use things like that and it would have gone to a charity shop so I just thought I would ask :)

  • Oooh also I have just been clearing out the garage and came across a smellies gift set I recieved off my sil last year is it wrong to think about putting that in a hamper with some real ale, shortbread thorntons and then this smelly set to make up a gift set for the kids great gandma and grandad? I have only met them a handful of times but I felt awful when last christmas I recieved a gift card from them for £20 (only met them once before) so this year they are on the list. do you think that would work ok?
No, Rusty, that's not wrong. I got a giftset from one of the girls at work for my Birthday last month, and this has been broken down and popped into my Mums Christmas hamper, along with some chocolate money (free with ciggies in Belgium) some perfume (free from Daily Mail) Elizabeth Shaw mints (Bogof in Co-op) and some very expensive looking Avon jewellery that I got on clearance for £2.50 All arranged very nicely in a basket from the 99p shop!

I too think it's fine to recycle gifts and have done this myself :D Wish I had things like that in my garage that I could give to others ;)

I agree Rusty - go for it. I have a bag of stuff that was bought for me and stuff that I have collected from charity shops etc that is to be broken up into hampers. Its called recycling and you should be proud of yourself :)
However I once gave away a box of handkerchiefs I received (when I was 13!!!) to an older friend and she was terribly grateful for the £10 deposited inside - I guess that served me right :o

Ok thats another one sorted then ...

What do you all think to my other suggestion about a big beer/munchies/marmite movie box for OH? just so he has something to open? or should I just get him a few small presents? so far I have spent £135 including his stocking so just wanted a few bits and bobs so he had something on the day

Ah but you see you wouldn't really want things like that in your garage ... it too me ages to find it ...

Our garage is full of everything from my whole house and today I desided to flig open the doors and get rid of some of it ... OH didn't believe that you can now walk from one end to the other (you couldn't even get in there before) so I sent him a pic to prove it ;)
Still a long way to go but we are getting rid of his old and battered washer and dryer and bringing in my nice shiney ones which have only had 4 months use then I can start on all of the boxes behind that ;)

pics :D I am ashamed of the mess ... but proud of the fact you can now see floor and walk in there :D

Afraid so, last year I spent £400 :eek: but limited myself to £200 max this year although £30 of that was from the children. So far I have booked his CBT course (motorbike test) bought him a sphering experience day, the marmite hamper and loads of little stocking fillers. Oh and 4 bottles of beer
