  • I have an old second hand laptop. It isn't fantastic - only 20gigs harddrive, although he could always use an external. It runs Windows XP and is fitted with a wireless card. I was using it until earlier this year when I was very very naughty and gave in to my credit limit increase and got another...

Anyway, the battery is busted so it has to be run off the mains, although you could pick up a new one cheaply.

I know it's not great but it's fine for surfing the net and doing homework...if that's all he wants it for, I'm happy to clear it up and let you have it - it was only going to end up on Freecycle anyway.

I just had to say that after reading this post what a kind person you are, I know that it was just going to freecycle but if it all works out ok you probably have made this lady's sons christmas. :j One good turn deserves another and you certainly do deserve a good turn. :A

  • Check your PMs :)

I was going to Freecycle it anyway, so save the money and put a new battery in it instead maybe. :)

This is not a suggestion for a main present, but if he's a reader and looks after his books or you've got any books in good condition I would recommend "readitswapit" get rid of books they have outgrown. I've had some great swaps books that are like new. might be worth a try as a stocking filler

  • Hi,

Sorry if anyone has already posted this, but the gaming/rocker chairs are well reduced in argos at the moment.

Our DS is 13 too & we got him one to connect to his Wii, you can also connect them to dvd players & ipods. They vibrate & stuff while playing the games.

We also got him a magazine subscription using Tesco clubcard deals. A voucher for the local cinema, dvds, games, a cheap mobile, bits and pieces from the £1 shop, books, Simpsons calendar on Amazon for £2.99.

We got him some other stuff as well, but I really think 13 year old boys are so difficult to buy for.

If this isn't the true spirit of Christmas, I don't know what is. What a beautiful person you are. Thanks for restoring my faith in the goodness of people. xxx
