there's a few, maybe ask in 11 months when your present contract is up?
is your vm connection cable or adsl, whats your postcode?
This will be adsl, Cable is 2mb, 4mb, 10mb etc.I recently signed up for 12 months on a virgin broadband package with 8mbs speed and unlimited downloads.
Move along, nothing to see.0 -

Anyone know a good broadband provider that doesn't do this?
Sky MAX Broadband. Sky
VM throttled my speed back twice because I had the temerity to download a couple of PS3 demos onto my PS3 during the afternoon instead of 2am. So I'm going to take great delight in telling VM where they can stick their broadband and suggest they look up the definition of "unlimited" and stop misleading their customers.0 -
Notice the 'top 5%' of users...now if your in the top 5% you must be downloading ALOT of illigal content or have a fault as virgin dont often restrict users. I regularly download in excess of 50gb per month and never get any letters BUT i did get a call from my bf friend who works in their faults management as i was flagged as top 5%, after he looked at my line, he found my router was sending packets constantly, using an enoumous amount of bandwidth, which was fixed quite easily.0

Not necessarily illegal as stated above. Just download a two or three legitimate PS3 demos between either 1000-1500hrs or 1600-2100hrs and bang VM cut your speed, in my case by 75%.
As far as I'm concerned they can stick their bandwidth where the Sun doesn't shine

Not ALL downloadable content is illegal, the OP mentioned PS3 demos, these are very large, and very legal. the OP also suggested these downloads happened during 'peak' rather than 'off peak' times, VM censures users based upon this rather than, specifically, the amount of data transferred overall, do not jump to conclusions and accuse posters of illegal activity without proof
