Best job websites and agencies?

Hi Skintchick (again!)
For jobs in your field you would be better off looking at specialist recruitment sites – have you tried either of the sites below?
http://www.creativepool.co.uk/
http://www.mad.co.uk/Main/Jobs/Default.html
The search functions occasionally bring up completely unrelated jobs (!) but as both of the sites are portals rather than agencies, you get to search jobs from most of the top agencies/recruiters in your field. If you can turn your hand to copy-writing (which being a journalist/editor, shouldn't be too hard!), you may open up the possibilities a bit!
Hope that helps!

just had a look at these sites,& as you rightly say theres not much on there that could relate to myself. however i will put them in my contacts for general use, just incase they throw up anything. thanks0 -

Hi mr.skint
Both of the sites I posted above are specifically for the creative industry (design, marketing, journalism etc). For general jobs, I used to use all of the following:
http://www.topjobs.co.uk/
http://www.totaljobs.com/
http://www.planetrecruit.com/
http://www.monster.co.uk/
http://jobs.guardian.co.uk/
http://www.jobsite.co.uk/
http://www.fish4.co.uk/iad/jobs
http://www.reed.co.uk/
http://www.alljobsuk.com/
It's been a while since I used these, so can't comment on how good they were! There were some others as well but they appear to have either gone bust, or merged with some of the above.
For office-based temp work try the following:
http://www.office-angels.com/
http://www.adecco.co.uk/Pages/Default.aspx (need to register on the site first).
What kind of jobs are you looking for? There may be specialist sites dedicated to your industry area.
BrionaIf I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.0 -

yer i have used some of those already & still use one or two.one or 2 ar ok but the others don't always deliver. my work is mainly driving, but will concider, mayby labourering, cleaning,or warehouse, but cleaning is more my other half. other jobs concidered is train driving, but know thats very remote, but still try, or work in television ,but thats more of an interest..any sites that deliver that ,would be of interest. or somthing else, work from home0 -
Mr Skint, I don;t want to be rude but this was supposed to be a general thread for people to post different websites they know of to help others. There is no need for you to keep posting moaning that sites don;t have anything for you - the idea was to create a pool of knowledge everyone could use, and perosnally I found the creative ones useful.
Perhaps you could post ones that you have found useful?:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I agree! :T
To mr.skint, there are lots of people out there in a similar position, all chasing the same few jobs – it's not personal! If you're registered with agencies you need to chase them up on a daily basis, make sure that they know you are interested and available. Check your local papers every week for new jobs. If your industry is driving, speak to others in the business – see if they know of anything upcoming or find out where they got their jobs from.
Working in the creative industry, I know more about specialist sites than general ones, as those are the ones I use. The last list I posted were sites I can recall using a few years ago. I can add to that list with the one below, but again can't tell you whether it was any good or not.

For skintchick (and any other creatives out there!), two more industry specific sites below:

yer no problem with that, other than the jobcentre site,& a few others i have used i can't think of anything else website wise, other than what you mentioned. i am not a big fan of employment agencys ,but yes will follow them up were possible & always will look in papers & check by word of mouth,i always also check when out & about for companys of interest & go back & spec letter them ,always prepared to travel within 50 or so miles so give myself a good chance. helpfull advice ,& thank you0 -
Sorry, I've mainly worked in sales in the past so am not really in your industry, but would these guys be any good?
http://www.arena-recruitment.co.uk/aboutus.php
If not, then it maybe worth giving them a call tomorrow anyway and see if they can give you any pointers on anything that may be around or other agencies that may be worth contacting. To be perfectly frank, I've always found the smaller/more specialised agencies are better for actually securing positions, the larger ones are usually too general."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
To OP, For journalism jobs, I would suggest gorkanaPR.

I do also agree with what skintchick said @ 1.33pmCredit Card paid back in Full (June 2011): :j £500 in the clear -
Part of the £11,000 in 2011 challenge: £3,284 done so far.0 -
Can I add..
https://www.jobs.ac.uk (for a job in a uni)
https://www.prospects.ac.uk - usually graduate jobs, but you never know0
