I have a payg o2 sim that gives me 300 text a month if I top up £10 a month. 300 isn't enough though so I've seen a sim on ebay whichn gives 500 texts a month, if I get it can I keep my number but change to the new sim?

Yes you can ring your network up and ask for the pac code and when you get the new sim give the network your changing to the pac code and they will transfer your number over.

I'm having a problem with this kind of thing. Basically, I'm currently with O2 through carphone warehouse. I'm coming to the end of my contract so have tried to get myself a better deal. Currently paying £25 a month for 200 mins and texts...not very good. I want to get this down to about £10 per month. I'm quite happy to go on the O2 simplicity £10 per month, but they say they can't do this for me on the phone. They say they can't give me a pac code to cancel this contract with O2 and start a new one with O2. I don't understand why not!

I am keen to stay with O2 as well as one of my friends can give me a friends and family discount as he works for O2!

Pac codes are only for porting from one network to another.
You'd need to port to another network for a month and then port back if they won't do you the deal you want on your current contract.

Ok, I thought that might be the case.

Porting to another network for a month: Presumably I would only do this onto a payg sim then transfer my number back to 02 with the tariff I want?

    Thanks

Exactly right. Get one of the many free payg sims that are around and your off.
    Good Luck...

On o2 payg, if you top up £15 or more you get 500 texts. Check out the o2 website. £10 for 300 txt, £15-£29 for 500 txt, and £30+ for unlimited.
