switching off 3g on nokia n70

is this possible? and how do you you do it if it is?

  • It depends which network you are on. If you are on orange/voda/o2/t-mobile you should be able to lock it to gsm (2g) mode. There is a setting somewhere on the phone can't remember were though. As these networks have decent 2g/2.5g coverage they aren't fussed about you locking onto 2g.

    If you are in 3 you won't be able to do it. 3 branded phones have that option disabled. You will be constantly roaming on o2 which costs 3 money.

    I know there is software avaliable for the 6680 which lets you lock 3 phones to 2g mode, not sure if this is available for the N70.

    If someone knows the procedure for the 6680 on 3,would they let me know,as I could do with changing mine to 2G.

    can't be done with '3' phones, as they don't want you locking onto the o2 network, which they use when the phone is in 2g (they have to pay o2 if their phones use o2)

    But just incase here's how to do it, i found out last night...

    go to tools....settings....network....network mode...and if you have the option to choose 'gsm' or 'dual mode', choose 'gsm'
