leaving talktalk, how do i reactivate my phone line without signing back with bt

i am coming to the end of my 18 month contract with talktalk and have not been happy with the service, so was looking to change providers. i am currently paying around £20 a month for line rental, broadband and call package, (part of the free broadband deal they did a few years ago).
i have tried to sign up to tiscali and orange (both of whom do line rental and broadband packages), but because my line rental is with talktalk i would have to take line rental with bt and then a seperate broadband deal, this would work out as a more expensive option. what i need to know is, is there anyway to get my line reactivated (not tied to talktalk) without going through bt. i have tried the post office website as they do line rental with no contract but my number is not being recognised.

  • I am in the same boat, well I am about to be. I can't handle talktalk anymore I have spent the whole morning on the phone trying to sort things out with them but they are useless.
So if I leave I will face the same problem, there must be a way round this.
Did you get anywhere with the post office website ?

By more expensive do you mean taking BT Line Rental and separate Broadband as opposed to say taking both with the Post Office.

Looking at the Post Office site you get Home Phone with Broadband Extra for £24.95 per month.

If you took BT with the Unlimited Anytime Plan for £15.45 per month with O2 Broadband at £7.50 per month that brings a total of £22.45

There are slight differences in the PO and BT product:

BT Anytime = When all your UK* landline calls are included, any time of the day, any day of the week

    BT Anytime

Post Office Plan only has inclusive evening and weekend calls as opposed to the above but does have Free calls to Uk Mobiles and top 20 international destinations:

    Post Office phone & broadband

The broadband is compatible insomuch the PO and O2 are unlimited packages.

    O2 Broadband

Based on that its swings and roundabouts with the 2 packages but not much difference.
    Waddle you do eh?
  • I am with TT and was asked to renew last night and did so, but only after insisting on the same deal as new subscribers get.

I managed £5 discount per month for the first three plus 1000 nectar points which works out to £20 off (or £19.38 per month). I had to commit to 18 months which I was happy to do as I've not had any problems with them (after the initial set-up at least).

I guess I've just been lucky as I have heard bad things about their CS team and my Mum didn't have a great experience with them.

sounds like your on a talk talk LLU line. only BT can reconnect you (not bt fault just other providers choose not to accept llu imports)
