Residential Dog Training

Great! I am sure you can do it - is the OH prepared to be patient?
Dont forget to make it fun, and to treat (wih something really tasty and exciting - cheese, little slices of sausage etc) and praise straight after every time she does a wee or poo outside. She will soon learn, I am sure!0 -
Abbi - you're a star. I take my hat off to you.
You're obviously determined to help your little dog and to make every effort with her. I wish you every success in retraining her.
I am sure you will both benefit from the time you are investing in her.
I don't want to patronise you, but thank you and well done for taking such a kind and responsible attitude.0 -
Its just really weird, I mean I understand why OH has been unhappy as he is a baker for Betty's of Harrogate and works with food so to have something on the SMALL kitchen floor that shouldn't be, I can understand why that would be upsetting. Also I did bring her home without consulting him, he has been so good not chucking me out or anything so I do have to deal with the consequences but I adore her. I am overweight after eating too many cakes and need to lose quite a bit and I have found that just walking her I have lost a small bit, yes I have a way to go and its no excuse to have a dog but I like spending time with her. And also I used to be quite scared of dogs. Well I hadnt ever been allowed a pet and wne you aren't a pet person a dog jumping at you can be intimidating. However as she is so friendly I have found I like other dogs!Money money money.

She looks a 'wee pet' [NI term of endearment].
You go girls.

Abby, that's great news!!
I'm pleased that the excellent advice on here has hit home and I am 100% sure that you will succeed. Sure, it's tough, going outside every half hour or hour, but it does not last forever. She will pick it up very quickly.
Training should never be seen as a chore, but a chance at improving the bond between owner and dog, and making the dog as happy and comfortable as possible. My dog is most definitely a "Mummy's Boy". Sure, OH loves him, but it's me who spent time training and bonding, and now I'm the one reaping the rewards. OH also walks him and he'll cuddle OH when I'm not home, but I know he always prefers to be with me
Please spend time and patience with the toilet training, and both you, pooch and OH will be all the more happier with it

Abby, go for it with the training and she will get there so quick you will wonder what all the fuss was about.
Go get yourself a copy of "The Perfect Puppy" by Gwen Bailey, its a great help esp if you have never had a pup before and your OH might get some insight and even get involved0 -
