Hi all,
I've had a search through these posts but I can't find one dedicated to boilers, so I need to ask everyone's opinions.
We're going to replace our old boiler system with a new combi boiler. We've been told vaillant are good, but I'd really like to get the opinions of people who use them and those who service them etc, in terms of reliability, ease of use etc.
Thanks

Good evening: My OH installs Vaillant and Viessmann: both manufacture an excellent range of products. You can find an installer on their respective websites. Did you search in the In My Home forum? ...lots of threads/posts on boilers there.

We have just had a replacement boiler fitted.
Vaillant Ecotec 937 fitted in a four bed, two bathroom detached house. Replaces a 25year old Ideal Standard floor standing Cast Iron lump of a boiler, and 180Litre cylinder. We also removed the pumps from the showers so just running hot water on delivery from boiler.
We've seen no drop off in flow rate on showers, even as powershowers previously. And the house heats up in less than 15 minutes, in comparison to 45 minutes on old boiler. Gas usage 2 months in is approx. half what it was for same period last year!
All in all very happy with boiler and performance and more inportantly the gas savings.
Please note the Vaillant 937 is rather big, but still a wall hung boiler. Ours is in a utility area so we don't havce to look at it!0 -

Hi, Andysaver. Sounds like I'm about to do exactly what you've just done. Our house is the same as is our current old boiler and I've been recommended the Vaillant 937 as well. You say that the showers are still nice and powerful; is this still the case even when there is another tap drawing off hot water at the same time? I know the flow rate is bound to drop off to some extent but how noticeable is this?
PS: our mains flow rate is pretty good at over 25l/min0 -
Can anyone give an indication of which manufacturers keep producing spare parts for the longest. My current boiler is 12 years old and spares are no longer available, however my parents boiler which is getting on for 20 still has parts available. If parts are going to be available for a longer period after the boilers purchase you may also want o consider this when purchasing.0

I doubt that parts are not available,12 years is no age for a boiler!! who told you, do they want to sell you a new boiler.... a large boiler servicing organization give their engineers warnings if they do not generate sales leads! and they only stock parts for boilers up to 10 years old, when the engineer says he can no longer get parts, he is being truthful, their stores no longer stock them!! but the parts are still sold!
do a web seach for the boiler name and model, there will be many stockists out there!! I know, I am a Corgi reg heating engineer.............0
