Oven cleaner? That gets the brown gunge off the oven.

I usually get OH to give them a scrub with one of those silver scourer scrubbie things,he brings them up lovely :D It doesn't seem to damage them, mine were an engagement pressie and we've been married 19 years :rotfl:
  • I use one of those metal scourers like these.
They're kinda like a tougher brillo pad, but I'm sure brillo pads would work too.
Just soak for a minute or two in washing up water and scrub. If the stains are really baked on you might need to do it in stages. (I do this with my metal oven trays which get brown marks in the corners and around the edges :o given them proper scouring now and again to make them silver and shiny again:T.)

Edit:I see D&DD beat me to it as I tried to find piccy!

Or soak in hot water with soda crystals (or bio washing powder if really bad).

I put mine in a black plastic bag with a rag with some ammonia on it and leave it outside overnight. The gunge then washes off. I do the same with oven shelves. The whole lot fits in the bag and the soaking only needs doing every 6 months.

Was going to suggest the soap powder too - IF they're really bad. I did my turkey roasting tin with some last weekend and it's come up like new :D.
  • I soak mine in hot soapy water and bleach, then clean with a sponge scourer and rinse thoroughly.

I never knew that you could use washing powder on metal. (although it REALLY should have been obvious!!!) Does it have to be bio though?

Now have all my manky oven trays soaking!!
