Should I go for a Stripe or Mirror.
I know that if one of the drives fails on the stripe you loose the lot but its the performance increase worth it?
Data loss is not too bad as backups are take regualary0 -
Hey folks, don't get carried away because it seems it must be a bargain. Price up your purchase going through the home and small business section as well. I think you may be surprised that it comes to within a reasonably small margin.
Then if it is not a 'bargain' really, do you really want it?
It is clear that Dell know what is going on and are now playing the game. It must amuse them to see people flocking to buy a bargain that may just be the same machine with £20 or so pounds knocked off.
I am not saying anything against the machines themselves (although as an owner of a 3000 they are 'old technology'). They do the job, but one should not just buy Dell without searching the market place as well. If it suits your needs, that's fine.
I do get the impression that people are buying to flood Ebay with used ones (which depresses the price instantly). If you are only saving a handful of fivers, be prepared to get burnt.
Perhaps someone can tell us how much they have actually saved using these deals (I may be completely wrong).
