  • there are lots of horrible tales on the housing board of btl first timers who basically get shafted, one in particular springs to mind where the owner wanted to move in but couldn't as theyhad the tenant from hell who was sub-letting to a gorilla-esque boyfriend and basically refused to move out.

When they did eventually go, they took all the radiators and the boiler as well as ruining all the carpets. The owner felt it was a small price to pay.
    bloooooooooooooody hell.

Yep that would happen to me I bet, they would seem all innocent and sweet until they get in the house and then turn it into something off the Trainspotting Film:eek:
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

I once had tenants who, midway through running a bath, decided they would rather go away for the weekend. Problem is, they didn't bother to turn the taps off first !!Of course, when they got back, all the ceilings were down, carpets ruined etc and they just called me saying "Fix it!"
Other tenants went up into the loft space and broke through to next door, out through their loft and burgled them...nice!!! Don't miss being a landlady at all.....
    Debt-free...and staying that way...

  • I once forayed into the BTL market and quickly got out again, bought a house jointly with my brother to do up and flog on in the end..made the profit and ran. The chaps who were helping us with building jobs told some tales that would make your hair curl. One of the houses he had to 'repair' had been made into a brothel..well you could imagine what happened and after there was alsorts of errm stuff found, it was raided in the end and doors kicked off and well the list goes on.
Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:
