For the joker in the family, hide in this jar of sweets the jokers keys or something small that they really like. Place a lable on the jar saying, Lost ........... in a jar, just put what ever the object is for Example lost key.

Then add to the lable in order to find your lost item you must much through all sweets.

  • Name of present? Personal Characature
Make it or buy it? Buy it
    Total Cost? around £5.00
Details (the more the better)? Last year I bought my boyfriend a Characature off Ebay which came from China and he thought it was great and he is 30! All I had to do was send over a photo of him to this artist in China and tell him what I wanted; which was picture of my chap as Dr Who infront of the Tardis! - It was very impessive! I got it delivered through the post but as a cheaper way, he would email it for free and you could just print it off - Although I wanted the original drawing so that I could frame it nicely.

Hope this give you all a good idea - search ebay for Characature
  • Last minute entry - I hope this is useful to someone!

    Name - Personalised comic
    Make/Buy - a bit of both!
Total cost - will vary but £3-£5
    Details:

Ok so I've made these for various people over the years and they are always a big hit.
1.You will need to collect some photos of the person the comic is about - Facebook etc are good places to find lots of these! (the sillier the better!)
    2. I use Open Office Publisher to create mine (because it's free) but you can use Microsoft Publisher or even MS Word if you like.
    3. Create a number of boxes to fit you story into, you will probably want to set the line of the boxes thicker than the normal default as this gives a better comic effect.
    4. Arrange your photos in the boxes as a 'story'. As you can see by my example below, this story can be really random as long as it means something to you and your friend/partner/child/whoever is receiving the gift.
    5. visit this website: www.bancomicsans.com click on fonts and then 'c' and choose one of the comic fonts - there are instructions on the top of the page as to how to install the fonts. (all fonts from this site are free!) On XP you will need to save the file, extract the files and then drag the font file into the fonts folder. You may need to restart your computer.
    6. Create text boxes and fill in the text with the comic font.
    7. Add a title.
    8. Save as PDF (This is especially important if you take your comic to a printers as they won't have the comic font so it will default to something plain)
Either print it at home of take to a printers, I like to get mine printed on A3 - about £1
    9.Buy a frame (I like the silver ones from wilkos - £3)
    10. Wrap it up and see your loved one's face when they see their own superhero comic!

This is great for young boys, men (let's be honest, most men would love to be a superhero!) or anyone really. The one below is one I've done this year for my two best girlfriends in the whle world, Janev and Laura - I hope they like it!

As a hard up student back in the 90's :rotfl:!! I had absolutley no money for my boyfriends christmas present. Knowing that I had to produce something on this special day I decided to create a box of love. My Box of love consisted of:

    Cost: £5.00

1 shoe box (spray painted gold) Now I took ages to paint this shoe box so that it looked fantastic.

I then filled this box with little things that I knew my boyfriend enjoyed or needed. My box contained the following items.

1 single cd (It was actually Jarvis cocker lets all meet up in the year 2000)

    1 favourite bottle of beer

1 home made box of my own rum truffles
(I knew these would go down well!!)

1 pair of boxer shorts and socks

When I gave this box to my boyfriend the look of surprise on his face when he opened it was lovely. This boyfriend is now my husband and yes we still have the gold box in the attic now filled with our love letters. To this day my husband says it was one of the nicest and most thoughtful gifts he has ever received.

So go on create one yourself for someone you love, it will bring years and years of memorys. It is a memory that my husband and I have that we will now also share with our twins when they are older.

Name of present? Christmas Pudding Lip Balm
Do you make it or buy it? Buy it
Total Cost? £2.99 + postage and packing
Details (the more the better) Chocolate tasting glossy lip balms in the shape of dinky Christmas Puddings. A great stocking filler for friends and family, or table treat on the Christmas dinner table!
Where possible please add a link if it's an online offer http://www.totally-funky.co.uk/pages/funky/productView.asp?ID=2236&SID=949

  • Instead of buying presents for all the family, that lets face it probably wont be use and stuck at the back of a cupboard to be more than likely given back to you for a birthday or christmas gift. Just do a £5.00 secret santa within the family, it's real fun and can create hours of entertainment if you add a theme of how the £5.00 should be spent.
