So no professional photographers use Canons then? :rolleyes:It's my problem, it's my problem

Canon 'V' Nikon.................................
LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE
If you are taking picies at concerts, then a conpact is deffinatly the best, as a lot of venues are VERY funny with picture taking. I enquired at the M.E.N arena in Manchester before about this, as I have a DSLR, but their basic reply was along the lines of "if your camera has a changable lens then you can not use it". This sort of camera is the same design of a prfessional photographer, so I can understand their reasonning
Could I suggest also you do not get one of the "hybrid" type of cameras. These are a cross between a compact and DSLR. They do not have a changable lens, but look VERY much like a DSLR, and venues may deem them the same
Now to the point in hand, a good compact for £150ish. SO many to choose from
I would no worry TO much about the mega pixel count, as over 8million on a compact is not worth the extra cash. It is all to do with the sensor inside the camera that records the picture details. On a compact, these are quite small, and you could find the more pixels you try to squeeze into a small space, the image quality could suffer. I found this with my compact 'v' my DSLR. Both around 10mps, but WHAT a difference in clarity the DSLR has (the sensor is a LOT bigger than a compact)
I found (after a lot of looking) for me the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 was a great little package - Literally - measuring 59X103X37mm. A fantastic lens (10X optical zoom. 28mm(for ultra wide angle) to 280mm), one of the best LCD screens, image stabalization, face recognition, intelligent auto focus and on and on. The only downside I have found is the picture has a fair bit of noise in it over 400ISO, so this may influence you. But with a little software usage, you can remove a lot of this afterwards. But with the lens and capability of doing 720p HD video recording on the camera, this swayed me towards it
Might be a little bit (£20ish) over your budget, but goto your local camera shop and have a little play of some, if it is somewhere like Jesops, they are usually more than happy to spend time with you, and let you try before you buy
