New house, no phone line, need broadband please help

A friend had just moved into a new house which does not have a landline, He wants broadband and would also like to install Sky. Can anyone please advise on what he should do? He has o2 mobile but o2 broadband is not available other than through a BT land line. Does he have to install a BT landline and if so, are there any deals - new BT landline and new Sky customer? It looks like he in in a satallite but NOT cable area.

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks

If it is a brand new house, then there will be a £125 line activation charge from BT. Although brand new houses have the sockets already wired in, they're not actually connected/activated.
