  • I was in Norwich today and most shops had the cores and premiums. Game had plenty of both on their shelves. However due to the inavailability when I wanted one before xmas I purchased a PS2 and I am very pleased with it, games are reasonably cheap as well. I think the Xbox360's are best suited to those with HD tv's

slowen - Nuplayer are selling the Japanese version (hidden in the item description) so they are still making a decent profit on it. I wouldn't recommend them TBH, they've had mixed reports regarding customer service. They are somewhat overhyped in certain circles ;) A hell of a lot of BS in that email too!

And of course the Japanese version will only play JPN and a small handful of region-free games. It can be had for £250-ish from various foreign sites.

Did not go into the 360 section as I only looked at the main page with the price on it

The one I ordered from Argos last week arrived today, so thanks again for the tip-off.

I intended keeping it for OH's birthday in March but I'm a bit concerned about the 'faulty X-box' stories. I assume they have to be on and used for a while to be sure there's no problem with crashing/freezing, so I can't just plug it in and switch on to check it? It'll be too late to do much about it in March if there's a problem.

I think I may have to give him it early and take a photo of it to enclose with his birthday card just so he remembers what I got him.

Ideally you'd need to play it for a few hours everyday for a few days to fully test it. If it works initially then it should be OK for a while at least.

It could die at any time but it's under warranty with Microsoft for a year (average 1 week turnaround, they pick up and drop off replacement).

Apparantly the overheating problem is happening when they are not in a ventilated area and only effects about 1% of the toal 360's (1% could mean anything as how many 360's have been made)

I would not worry as you get a 12 month warrenty anyway so if anything happens you are covered
  • Does anyone have any idea of the total weight of the xbox 360 premium package? I need to post mine and parcels 2 go online are asking for the parcel weight which I have no idea of!

Eyes open today on Argos, I was reading in another forum that someone was tracking Argos 360 console delivery dates which appear to be Tuesdays & Thursdays & hit the web same day. Never know, worth keeping an eye open for all the same.....
